Apologies to real poets

STEWIE

The legend began on the hood of a car
Her letter to UCONN was signed
A decision destined to make her a star
Though stardom was not on her mind

She wanted to be the best she could be
To contribute the most for her team
Geno, CD and staff were the key
Four championship rings was her dream

She sailed into Storrs with Morgan and Mo
A class that was second to none
Four freshman losses would help her to grow
Then reward us with ring number one

Year two and year three her accolades soared
The Huskies would lose but one game
More banners were hung, but her fan base adored
Her humility more than her fame

And now we have come to the end of year four
Only six more games to be won
Stewie and company seeking one more
A feat that had never been done

No matter the outcome, our thoughts are the same
You're our daughter, our warrior, our friend
Unrivaled your spirit, immortal your name
Our Stewie, our G.O.A.T. 'til the end

Stewie, her claim to fame was the way she played the game. ( Larry Bird song. ) I liked the poem and I sit here thinking just how much she has grown over these 4 years. Thanks to Stewie, Morgan and Mo. UConn's big 3.

You prefaced your work with apologies to those
whose poems might be published and treasured
Yet I found your rhyme to be crafted with skill
A fine bit of prose and a pleasure!

Excellent work, Denny!!
