You're misremembering. Clingan came into UConn in great shape for his freshman season, Hurley praised him over and over for how good a condition he came in. His first 11 games as a UConn player before the Big East season. He averaged 10.5 ppg, 7 rebs, 2.1 blocks per game over that span with wins over Oregon, Bama, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and Florida. He also was MVP of the Phil Knight Invitational. He was all over the court his freshman season and he was ready to go right away.
I went to some early games in Storrs (def UNCW, maybe Buffalo or Stonehill), moved up and sat in first 10 rows & Clingan was very clumsy, turnover prone and played 15-ish minutes mostly in garbage time. He progressed even that first month.

His long term conditioning concerns me - seems to drop in and out of shape really quickly, even for a big guy. Need to keep that guy on grilled chicken salad.
Conditioning and injuries are always a big worry with huge guys.

I’m moreso worried about his offensive game, it just looks so unnatural at times. It will develop but obviously that won’t be his strong suit.

The Spurs are trying to tank for Flagg, I'm not so sure they let Steph off the leash. Prolly still keep him to 20-22 min.
at this point with no Wemby and now Fox that team shouldn't be able to win that many games with the guys they have left. They were already outside the play-in with Wemby as it is.
