Steph Castle declares

Admittedly, I don't watch any NBA, but I don't see how he won't be an All Star in the league. What a player.
 
He could definitely use another year of UConn Basketball under his belt, for my sake.
 
He is one of my favorite players of all time. Even with just one year, he was the epitome of a UConn Player. Defensive minded, tenacious, level headed, humble, resilient, all about the “we” vs “me and a flat out scorer. This is a combination of qualities you don’t often see - even from jr./sr.

I have never see anything like S. Castle with the defensive intensity setting him apart from other great players that have come to UConn. While I am sad to see him go, we all know this was the best decision for him - wish him well.
 
I have not said this to this point but I’ll say it now. I see something Jordanesque about him.

By that, I mean as a freshman, Jordan progressed thru the season to where Dean Smith drew up the game winning play for him on a team of other stars. He has a rare affinity for making whatever play needed to be made. A dunk, a shot, a pass, a stop. Five tool player and a lions heart.
 
He was a pleasure to watch. Very rare to see a kid with his ability to not allow his ego to get in the way. Big money and its extensive lure wins most of the time. The size, quickness, and overall strength and speed of our 3 starting guards (6'6" - 6'5" - 6'4") literally eliminated any perimeter threat that Purdue could have had.

Love me some Doron. Doron ended his Freshman season as a 22 year old.

Caron ended his frosh season as a 21 year old.

Ray ended his frosh season as an 18 year old!

Emeka ended frosh season as a 19 year old

Steph ended frosh season as a 19 year old.

None of this matters, just made me think about "freshmen". Find it interesting.

Smart move putting these teams on notice, none of those teams excite me but if they draft him he wouldn't have much choice. He'll adapt with any team and position.

When he committed to UConn and signed, Newton was suppose to be a senior at the time.

I don’t think he thought he was coming back for his COVID year.

Do agree he wanted to win and be challenged, but he probably wanted to do it at his position.

Also, going to the right place probably matter mores than the 1st round money. If he goes to a team that doesn’t utilize him the right way it can affect his second contract.

I wonder if he has a silent guarantee from the Spurs. Isoloating himself from these top-10 picks wouldn’t make any sense if that wasn’t the case.

I love that he's betting on himself but I don't believe in guarantees in the NBA, it really means nothing.

As long as he's okay possibly dropping and getting with the right fit it's a great move.

He’s going to be an animal at the next level. Whether as a one, a two, a three, or a mix of each. His jumper is going to come & he has a strong feel for the game. If this decision keeps him out of CHA then I fully support it.
 
Steph was exactly what we needed for a NC and he will eventually be exactly what an NBA team needs for one

On top of his obvious athleticism, talent, and upside (because we definitely haven't seen his best basketball yet), you've got his character. I suspect that may be what moves him up in the draft.

Uber talented, unselfish, lottery pick? Why wouldn't you snap that up if you have the opportunity?
