Yes, these losses have been abysmal. Yes, we are severely underachieving so far. But we are a young team, and JC's track record is one of getting young teams to play well down the stretch. The best recent comparisons for this team are the sophomore-led teams of 2003, 2005, and 2008.

2003
Thru Feb 5: 13-5, 4-3 in BE
After Feb 5: 8-4, 8-4 in BE
#5 seed

2005
Thru Jan 30: 12-5, 4-3 in BE
After Jan 30: 10-2, 10-1 in BE
#2 seed

2008
Thru Jan 17: 11-5, 2-3 in BE
After Jan 17: 12-4, 11-3 in BE
#4 seed

Have we ever seen a sophomore-led team totally crash and burn down the stretch?

This team hasn't improved at all since November, but I'd reserve judgment until February before declaring this season a failure.

Sweet 16 loss, 2nd round exit, 1st round loss. I do get what you are saying. It is not that bad and you are right to say time to step back from the ledge.

Thats nice, except we didnt do anything those years. 2003 we lost to Texas in the Sweet 16 (decent result, couldve won that game). 2005 we were upset as a 2 seed in the 2nd round to a crappy NC St team, and 2008 we lost in the first round to 13 seeded San Diego (first 1st round loss under JC ever). Not exactly positive results.

But certainly better than where people seem to think this season is going (bubble team, non-factor in the tournament).

We were practically a bubble team last year and look how that turned out. It's early. No one won a NC in January.

We've looked bad - there's no denying it. There's no denying if we continue to play this way, TOs, easy 3s for the other team, meager scoring, that we're going to lose more than we win from here on out.

I just feel like I've watched sports enough that you don't count your chickens before they hatch. Teams improve, crazy things happen, breaks go one way or the other.

And I feel okay betting on Jim Calhoun.

It is what it is just hope we get it all together by February just get into the tourney and deal with whatever seed we get
