As noted by Her Hoop Stats, from 2009-2010 through 2022-2023, only ONE player in women's college basketball averaged at least 20 points, eight rebounds, and one steal on 65% shooting (min. 20 games played) for an entire season:
  • Napheesa Collier (2016-17)

Her Hoops Stats noted this in the context of its 2024 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Semifinalists, as Gonzaga's Yvonne Ejim is on pace to join Collier in achieving this milestone accomplishment.

Collier is a great player, and her stats are impressive, but I am leery of stats where player A is the only player who reached arbitrarily chosen levels in three or four different stats. For example here, 1 steal a game is a very ordinary stat. For example, if I drop that and raise the rebounds to 10 per game, I get only one player, Megan Gustafson, who did it two years in a row.

Napheesa Collier's career stats at UConn are more than impressive:
Consider:
Scoring - #3 all-time with 2,401 points. (Only behind Maya and Stewie)
Rebounds - #4 all-time with 1,219 boards. (Behind Tina, Maya & Rebecca)
Blocked shots - #8 all-time with 251 blocks.
Consecutive starts - #4 all-time with 112.
Most points in season - #2 all-time with 792 in 2018-19.
Rare talent and a wonderful person & mom..!!
Go Pheesa..!!

In some ways, Collier's performance in the pros reminds me of Jason Tatum and the Boston Celtics. The Celts won the championship when Tatum, a great shooter, collaborated more with his teammates, in the key games and key times, taking the ball inside or passing for higher % shots. I think back to the Katy Lou, Collier, etc. years, and Geno had Katy Lou and others hiking up 3's. At the time I loved it, but looking back, would more of an inside, mid-range game have gained more trophy's. Sadly, we will never know.
