Still always controls the paint was the difference between the first Georgetown game and this game. We controlled this game from the outright since he could stop supreme cook. Last game at home Donavan out and cook feasted especially when Samson got in foul trouble. No knock on any of our guys ever! Wow!

He has a lot of potential as a facilitator. Great passing and decent vision. Strong IQ and is unselfish. Can be an offensive hub type of guy , especially if his shot improves

Hurley showcasing clingan’s passing ability for the scouts, genius.

But seriously, the many combinations of how these 5 starters can hurt you is out of this world, not sure I’ve ever seem a team like this, at least not a UConn team.

Most teams have specialists for scoring, ball handling, assisting, rebounding, defending, 3 point shooting . But I’m not exaggerating when I say we have 5 starters that do it all, including three players that you can call point guards - opposing coach’s nightmare.

It’s a weapon since he’s such a good screener up there. Even with the ball in his hands, the big man guarding him has to come out to deal with dribble handoffs and the other quick actions we run with shuffle passes. You can take the chance of sagging in the paint to take away back cuts, but then you leave your perimeter defenders on an island to fight over Clingan’s screens. It takes someone locked in to know when to sag and when to come out and give help on screens. And then there’s the roll to deal with too.

The sophistication of our offense gives defenders so much to think about that it’s hard to play full defensive possessions without a lapse. Some teams have done it well for stretches and controlled pace, but part of me looks forward to March when we play teams that haven’t tried to guard us 4 or 5 times in the last two years and have built up some knowledge on our stuff.
