$775,000 to grade, drain, asphalt and paint? How many spaces are they talking about? If they are paying prevailing wage then why are they paying prevailing wage? It's a freakin parking lot.

I'll bet you there isn't asphalt on it...they will be like the rest of the spaces...3/4 stone and grass

http://today.uconn.edu/2015/07/home-of-uconn-football-takes-new-name-as-pratt-whitney-stadium/

>>As part of the stadium agreement, UTC will contribute 10 acres of land to the state of Connecticut for additional stadium parking. UTC also will provide an easement for the use of an additional 15 acres adjacent to existing stadium parking, further expanding the parking available to UConn fans. <<

If what I was told is true - it's the wooded land to the "east"of stadium behind gray/orange lots (end of stadium opposite videoboard).

http://ct.gov/opm/lib/opm/Agenda_Jan29_2016_APPROVED.pdf

Page 10/85 : 775,000 approved for rent parking
Page 40/85 : 1,500,000 allocated from the previous 35million for the XL center
"These funds are requested to finance ongoing planning and repairs at XL center in Hartford"

So, I know they didn't spend the entire 35 mill on the recent band-aid. I know some went to the SCI study and this must be the rest for continued # crunching for renovations/upgrade and needed repairs. (Place is falling apart)

I'd guess anywhere from 700-1200. Parking lots cost money to build.

I can't express how much I hope that this is a sign that the Rent is about to be expanded and we are about to get a P5 invite.

Maybe... But just to temper expectation a bit... Remember they are losing parking to retail development going in on other side of Cabela that will effect Runway.

Homes being demolished on Silver Lane will give way to some of the additional parking spaces.

So if I'm reading that report right, 5.5 mil was set aside but they requested $775k? If that is correct, does that mean this is phase 1 of a larger parking plan? Or just trying to do things on the cheap (more likely)?

Did they finally buy "the house" sitting in the blue lot?

I read it as $5.5m was earmarked for "ALTERATIONS, RENOVATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS AT THE CONNECTICUT CONVENTION CENTER AND RENTSCHLER FIELD" - and they are only looking for an bond authorization allocation of $775k for additional parking.

Right, but no mention of what the remainder of funds is allocated for. $500k could be for the CCC. Is that documented somewhere?

This line item has been a budget carry-over/earmark for a number of the past years. increasing most years, year over year.

Not specifically the line item dollar breakdown per facility but more what the intended capital projects entail/planned: http://www.cceda.net/data/Unsorted/2014-2015_Annual_Report-73132-1.pdf (pages 7-10)

I always wondered about that house. I'm opposed to eminent domain but at what point does the owner cut bait and accept the deal? His property value had to plummet when the stadium was built.
One of the two homes was removed. I happened to drive by when they were demoing it.

One thing that I found interesting is that part of the plan is to "improve access to the roof." I have no idea what that means, practically.

Most likely for ongoing repairs/maintenance
