The poster is the first post in the Fan Fest at Mohegan thread but I can't seem to copy the image here without locking up
I get that problem. On some of these images I find you need to save it to your computer as a .jpg then post.

FWIW last year's Europe trip we started Diarra, Newton, Spencer, Karaban, Clingan. So I'd expect to see a veteran lineup start against URI, but it may not necessarily carry over into the real games

It’s a good point. But that Europe trip was in July compared to this being a few weeks out from the season.

This usually is a time to lock things in and get the chemistry among lineups going.

Could also point to the Karaban Johnson situation from 2022-2023 but we’ll never know if Johnson was actually going to start before the injury or not.

You're getting most NBA talent confused with best player. Cam Spencer was unquestionably our best offensive player last season and IMO our best overall player, he obviously wasn't getting drafted over Steph Castle.

It's weird how some in our own fanbase are underselling Karaban when the rest of college basketball recognizes he's going to be one of the best players in college basketball this season.
Exactly I wouldn’t say he is out best prospect or best talent but best/most important player yes by far AK

Diarra/Ball/Stewart/Karaban/Johnson

McNeeley might end up our best player but I don't think he moves into the starting lineup until Maui earliest. Mahaney I'm not really high on and see him behind Diarra and Ball. Think Johnson starts over Reed all year but they essentially split minutes.

This. DH has a policy of defense as the cover charge for entry onto the floor. The new guys will have to show before getting starts.

This is an exhibition. Hurley will start the lineup with the group that knows his system. The newbies can watch/learn 'how its to be executed in game time situations'.

I don't think this is the official starting 5 just more of a 'demo' squad.

There's another thread where Hurley said that the starting spots need to be earned.

When it comes to this coaching staff, it's not who starts, but who is on the floor during key points during the game, especially winning time, late runs that put the game out of reach or the very end of close games.

It seems there is so much developing talent on this team, that I think we're going to see many lineup tweaks throughout the season to develop deserving players who are showing progress in practice and in games, and to develop chemistry with various lineups.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but if this team has more players than usual who are playing at a high level on both ends of the floor, executing what they are supposed to do, and aren't repeatedly making mistakes, we are going to see a much deeper rotation of players than we've ever seen. With that said, as we get deep into the season we'll probably see some tightening on who gets more minutes, but if Hurley is true to his word about players earning PT, I think we'll see most of the roster getting minutes deeper into the season than we've ever seen.

AK is and will be the glue of this team but he is definitely NOT their best player. In terms of skills and athletic ability one could argue he might not be top 5.
Say what? Thinking that someone is not our best (or even one of our best) NBA prospects has very little bearing on whether he is the best player on a college team. Sanogo was our best player two years ago and we may have as many as four of his teammates on that team making more of an impact in the NBA this year.

Diarra/Ball/McNeeley/Karaban/Johnson is my guess. Ball and McNeeley had more buzz so far this off season than Stew or Mahaney, so I'm going with the former to win the starting wing jobs. Think we'll see a lot of point Mahaney minutes, and Stew take over as 6th man.

Agreed

Diarra 25 / Aidan 10 / Nowell 5
Ball 25 / Aidan 10 / Nowell 5
Liam 25 / Stew 15
Alex 30 / Stew 10
Samson 25 / Reed 15

30: Alex
25: Diarra / Ball / Liam / Stew / Samson
20: Aidan
15: Reed
10: Nowell

Played a down yet? Hopefully he never does play a down for UConn that would be a very bad thing.
Hey, if the football team has a lot of injuries he could be called on the be their QB.
