Stanley Robinson dunk mix

I figured some of you might need this.

His dunks at 2:20, 9:10 and 10:07 are my favorite. The dunk vs Texas is catapulted Uconn to that win. They came into Gampel ranked #1 and got served.

What always stuns me about that 2009 F4 game is that it is easy to forget that after UConn fell way behind and the announcers had given up on the game, Stanley slammed it home with 1:09 left to go, for only a 3 point deficit.

Stanley expanded the area in which an alley oop was plausible. The ball did not actually have to come within a foot or so of the rim while he was at his zenith. The pass could be three feet off and a half-second early, and all it did was give him the opportunity to make a more spectacular dunk.

And I miss the scream every time he slammed it.

Most college players don't have careers that come close to some of Stanley's halves for stupendous dunks.

I get a woody looking at those dunks.

Oh I love watching Stanley. We could use some Stanley now huh? Yet many fans never really liked his game, always weird to me.[/QUOTE

The biggest thing that hurt him were all the former greats that played the small forward slot over the previous decade (Hamilton, Butler, Gay)...

It's strange but I wanted to jump like Sticks even in my 40's. That's how effortless and pretty he made it appear.

Don't need to be a Stick-level athlete to execute a backdoor alley oop. I feel like I haven't seen one of those in years

Ran it a lot with Boatright. I’d say we should run it with Adams but he can’t pass to himself. Actually think we’ve done it a couple times with Anderson.

It was me. Not an elite athlete by Big East standards. And his long NBA career proved me wrong. Or not.

Yes, that was the well-documented reason that Stanley did not play in the NBA, his lack of athleticism. He had everything else.

I appreciate that you doubled down on the single dumbest basketball-related observation in the history of this board.

Drama queen has to drama.

Too bad Kwintin Williams doesn't have this top notch athleticism while playing basketball. He can do it on youtube videos though with a chair guarding him. LOL! I do miss athletes like him and Dyson from that team.

With some home cooking , no dyson, and aj playing well for like five minutes before becoming invisible.

Stanley could make bad passes look perfect and missed shots look intentional.

Thanks for posting. Awesome. ...yes, seems there’s less talent on the team these days. Obvious from watching that video.

In a lot of those videos the name ‘UConn’ has a small number before the name. Any idea why they would do that? Seems odd

At times Sticks would seemingly disappear for long stretches during games but when he was on he sure was exciting to watch. :D

Agreed Swingdog. Just goes to show the game is majority mental. With his skill set, albeit sketchy shooting ability, it always made me wonder why he wouldn't just take over games, particularly when we really needed a bucket.
