Should be a good game. Haven't seen Stanford play this year and looking to see how good they are.

Michigan an improving team meets UCLA B10 Network 2 PM

and South Florida plays Chattanooga at Noon

Well, Stanford has already lost to Santa Clara and survived a couple of relatively close games against average opponents. Texas, meanwhile, has played an okay schedule and looked like a possible force in the SEC...if Texas was in that league.

I'd expect Texas to win this by 5-10. Should be a good game, even with its interference with/ distraction from NFL Sunday.

This is an opportunity to see Karlie Samuelson play. I don't know how she and Katie Lou compare in stats but it will be fun to see her play. The game will be my backup channel from the maddening breaks in play of pro football.

I'm looking forward to both games. I think Chatty is a solid and well coached team. They should give USF a good game but I hope USF wins going away by 15+.

As for Stanford/Texas - Tara is one of the few coaches, IMHO, who runs offense the "right" way. IMHO the list is short - Geno, Muffet, Jim Jabir (Dayton), Tara, and maybe a few others. Stanford has balanced scoring with 4 players averaging over 10 PPG, but I think Lili Thompson is their PG (or is it Roberson?) or are they both? In a way that would be like UCONN relying on Moriah to be the scoring leader AND running the team...

If Roberson is their main PG, then that makes more sense... but Lili averages 5 assists per game to Roberson's 2,9 so I'm guessing it's Lili as the main PG. A lot of pressure on her as the 1 - run the team, make decisions, and score. I think she's really good.

Texas plays a mish mash of offense - not pretty to watch. I wonder if Stanford will be able to impose their will offensively or if this will be a slugfest with the score in the 50's for both teams. Texas has had some nice wins - over top 25 Tennessee and top 15 or so Mississippi State. I know those teams were ranked higher at the time of the win, but we all know Tenn is not a top 10 team and Mississippi State plays one of the softest cupcake schedules with only Texas and USF on the slate until they get into SEC play.

Well, it's only the second quarter, but Texas is looking pretty darn good, whereas Stanford is looking pretty damn bad.

Not sure if today's game against Texas is an aberration, but to my eye this is the worst Stanford team (by far) in nearly a decade. Defense is absolutely pitiful and as a group they're not athletic at all. Very little team speed and quickness.

I'm trying to figure out why Aston takes a ball handler off the court when Stanford is pressing in lue of bringing Boyette back in?

Maybe to pass it over the top of the press? Stanford isn't very big. Just a guess, I have no idea really!

Texas Wins 77-69. Game of mini runs but Stanford couldn't get the lead in 2nd half.

Karlie Samuelson only too 4 shots for the game. They were all 3 point shots and made 2. She's got to be more involved in the offense.

Another nice win for the Horns. If they can stay healthy, they may make some more noise in the tourney than they did last season. still no match for Uconn, but maybe the gap wouldn't be 50+, at least.

Nice job on FTs by Texas. Almost cost the Texas men the game against UNC last night

UCLA gets the road win over an improving Michigan 86-77. UCLA is a talented team but may not have the post play to make the Final Four.

Baylor vs Texas most likely three times should be interesting. I would think Texas gets a least one win out of the three.

I caught that game on BTN.

Monique Billings the Bruins 6-4 center had 20pts and 11 rebounds. She is an athletic post player and much better than I saw her last season. Not sure what's going with L. Drummer. She may be coming back from an off season injury. Played very little minutes and I did notice a knee brace.

Also Michigan is much better this year. They have added some nice freshman including a good 6-5 post player.

Above poster was right. Worst Stanford team I can remember. Game was hard to watch for over 5 minutes at a time. Between Texas' accidental offense and Stanford's lack of talent it was like watching a fast paced high school game. Outside of Maryland and SC, I see nothing out there to come close to UConn.

I agree. Somehow it goes against the grain of recent years: Texas expected to beat Stanford, and the DOING IT. IS TEXAS THAT GOOD??
....WEDNESDAY NIGHT: 9:00...ESPNU: Tennessee vs Stanford

Stanford should easily beat TN. I'll watch to make sure though.

This may be the least talented Stanford team in 10+ years. That's not to say they are not talented, but they had top 3-5 talent for most of a decade. They miss the superstar talent like Wiggins, Appel, Pedersen, and the Ogwumikes.

Texas should be getting better, rumor has it that DiDi Richards, Lexi Gordon, Chastity Patterson and Rellah Boothe will all be picking Texas, all kids are in the 2017 class.

You don't think ND and Baylor are threats to UCONN?

No, UConn will be a better team at tournament time and ND will not. I haven't seen Baylor so I'll defer on them to someone who has but I can't see anyone with the combination of talent and experience to beat UConn with the money on the table. Experience, coaching, and depth are huge when those big lights come on. Maryland and SC were there last year and tournament tough so I'd give them a shot. JMO.

I haven't seen either Maryland or Baylor play, but from what I've seen of SC I'll be really surprised if they can stay within 20 of UConn. The predominant characteristic of all the SEC teams is less than stellar offense, Dawn Staley has said as much about her own team. I thought at the beginning of the season that ND was the 2nd best team in the country and I've seen nothing to change my opinion. As for Maryland, I think it's fair to judge on history and when was the last time a Maryland team played good defense. Baylor has only played 3 decent opponents, all at home or neutral (Michigan State) and have been far from dominating.

Sounds reasonable. Until we see what Butler can do, I just feel that the best shot at UConn would come from a team with inside strength and depth that can bang Stewart around and jam up Tuck. A perimeter offensive team is streaky and probably wouldn't get the 80+ points needed to win against UConn's defense.

I agree that Texas should be getting better (this season) once Ariel Atkins is cleared to play. She had off-season ankle surgery, and hasn't played this season. Probably ready for the beginning of Big 12 play in a few weeks.

As for the 2017-2020 recruits in attendance, yes, the players you mentioned were there, along with 2016 signees Joyner Holmes and Jada Underwood, and 2018 (committed/de-committed) Sedona Prince, and 2020 commitment Deja Kelly. Getting Rellah Boothe from Florida to come in for an unofficial visit is a huge coup for Texas.
