Stanford up at the half 41-21 against Vanguard (NAIA) a team I think UConn played a few years ago.

Chiney has 20, several putbacks of missed shots. Starters were Chiney, Orange, Green, Johnson (Fr) and Ruef. Karlie Samuelson and Lili Thompson first in off the bench. Karlie not bashful, has taken some deep 3s. She's yet to make one but she doesn't hesitate. Greenfield and James in street clothes (must be injured), Bonnie Samuelson yet to play. Erica McCall looks big and moves well but needs more polish offensively.

Stanford up 65-37 (or something close to that) w/ 5 mins left. Chiney had better stay on the court for Stanford.

I'm betting she has close to 40. I agree - stop Chiney, and Stanford might not hit 40 points in any given game...

Chiney sat with 27 points in 20-something minutes. Outside of Chiney, this Stanford team is rather ordinary.

Vanguard was the team that came to UConn a few years ago. They are coached by Cal Swish(Ekmark, Katie Lou Samuelson) AAU coach Russ Davis, a good friend of Geno.
Have to give Vanguard credit. They played their 3rd exhibition game in 4 days, all on the road vs UCLA, Cal and Stanford. They might have the toughest RPI in the country. Vanguard plays one more exhibition game, tomorrow night at UC Santa Barbara.

Wow. That's an impressive string of games. No wonder they're perennial NAIA champs. You can tell Vanguard is well-coached. Here are the scores:

UCLA 66 Vanguard 57
Cal 91 Vanguard 62
Stanford 79 Vanguard 47

Chiney shot 13-19 while her teammates were a combined 17-55 (2-15 beyond the arc).

Just wait. Come early January when Baylor is 16-0 (or whatever) all of the pundits will be saying what a great team they are.

Hey, give them credit for not playing anyone in the top 100. They need to get all their new players onboard........Plus, when Griner was there, nobody want to come to Waco unless they had too.......Now, they are begging teams to play them.........This is the difference with UCONN and the rest of WCBB.........Geno and UCONN will play anyone anywhere at any time........EXPOSURE!!!!!

That would at least mean that Baylor had a win over a top 10 team.

Congrats to Vanguard. Playing the 4th game in 5 nights all vs D1 teams, finds a way to eek out a 69-66 win vs UC Santa Barbara.

That is impressive. They must be tired.
