Did not the Idaho St. and Boise St. losses come early in the season?

Idaho St. was the season opener, so I can see ignoring that result (20 point home loss). But Boise St. was recently and they lost by 23 on the road. Boise St. is only 6-5 this year, no indication they are particularly good. That result is concerning for the Huskies.

clearly playing better than Arizona, which is having a very rough season

While UW is a pleasant surprise, I figured Arizona was going to take a step backward this year. I still like what Coach Barnes is doing there and look for them to start moving in a positive direction again next season.

Agreed on Barnes and Arizona. This is a gap year for Arizona, between the loss of last year's top players and a solid incoming recruiting class next year.

Just as a reference - here are the top 26 in the AP and their record against the top 50 in Sagarin:
Connecticut 8-0
Notre Dame 8-1
Louisville 5-0
South Carolina 4-1
Mississippi State 4-0
Baylor 3-1
Tennessee 4-0
Texas 3-1
West Virginia 2-0
Oregon 3-2
UCLA 2-2
Ohio State 2-2
Florida State 2-1
Duke 2-2
Maryland 1-2
Missouri 1-1
Oregon State 1-2
Villanova 1-0

Green Bay 3-1
California 1-2
Michigan 1-2

Texas A&M 2-3
Iowa 2-1
Oklahoma State 1-2

South Florida 2-3
Stanford 1-5
Green is 6 or more games and red is 3 or fewer. This is actually probably a better picture of competitive scheduling than in previous years - the committee emphasis may be beginning to have an effect.

Where should Stanford be ranked? There are a lot of good teams ranked among the dozen teams below Stanford this week. Syracuse? Others?

Pac 12 stats, both team and individual after Non Conference play is over.
Women's Basketball Statistics

draw your own conclusions

One note-- on some of the individual stats they list the players with the wrong class ie Ionescu they list as a freshman as they do for teammate Hebard.

But any comparison of stats must be weighed against the fact that Stanford has played by far the toughest nonconference schedule of all the Pac-12 teams.

Current SOS ranking, according to Sagarin (RPI SOS rank in parentheses):
4. Stanford (5)
16. UCLA (31)
19. Washington St (20)
61. Oregon (21)
63. Cal (16)
86. Washington (71)
151. Arizona St (52)
168. USC (127)
191. Utah (123)
198. Colorado (125)
313. Oregon St (227)
326. Arizona (342)

* = victory over Stanford included in top 25 record
** = two victories over Stanford included.
Green = minimum of 4 games against top 26 teams and at least one win.
Orange = zero wins against top 26
Top 50 is a very broad universe and really, any team contending for an elite eight season should have no issues with teams outside the top 25. So the above is a look at sort of a minimum acceptable universe of opponents. I have now added in the record against 'top 26' (I included Stanford in the list so added in any Stanford games to the records.)

Note that Baylor and Ohio State would both be in orange if it were not for their combined three wins against Stanford.

Missouri gains distinction as the only team to not schedule a single top 25 opponent!
West VA, Villanova, Cal, and Iowa have one such opponent.
Louisville, Baylor, Texas, Oregon, Maryland, Oregon State, Ok State, and So Fla had two.

In looking at scheduling I think it is appropriate to include Stanford because teams scheduled them thinking they would likely be top 10 quality and can't really be blamed now they have fallen out of the top 25. It is also valid to note that as long as Stanford does OK in conference play, the strength of their OOC will push them into the NCAAs over a lot of teams with much gaudier W/L records.
