Staley isn't sitting back.....

Tale of the tape--Williams has averaged 2.3 blocks per game over 3 seasons, Okot 1.1 blocks per game in 1 season. Better double check which one is actually a rim protector.
Is she 6'2 or 6'4?

Okot has untapped potential that intrigues the staff I think. She has only been playing basketball for 5 years and looked very good in spurts for Miss St last season. To average 11 and 10 against D1 competition in her first year in the states in very good. Like someone stated above SC needs a Center. I would love Williams but she was listed as the forward and played more of the 4, while Carter McCray at 6’1” played the 5. It leads me to believe she rather be a PF than a Center and you’re going to have to want to bang in the SEC. We have enough 4s and I think that was our issue this past season, no true Center who can clear space and demand attention down low.

Kneepkins would be a far more valuable asset in my opinion.......I'm disappointed that UConn isn't going after her because efficient scorers are hard to come by......
I hear South Carolina has a great chance at getting Kneepkins. It's not a lock but we're like one of three schools she is considering and supposedly South Carolina is in the lead.

it would be interesting to see how she works with that other high scoring transfer..........are there going to be enough balls for the two of them? That said, when was the last time South Carolina had such an efficient scorer other than at the center position?

Tiffany Mitchell perhaps. Tessa is maybe similar.

Watching some Latson full games... she's a fairly willing passer. Only had three or four players though.

Let's be honest. Those FSU teams were horribly unbalanced and poorly coached.

What would be a probable starting lineup if Kneepkens chose South Carolina?

You don’t think Edwards would start over Dauda?
I'll try not to turn this into a Gamecock thread, but simply it was a toss up. I chose Dauda because of seniority and because Edwards isn't at her best at the 5. I think it makes more sense to have Kitts/Edwards/Watkins back one another up at the 4 and leave the 5 for Dauda/Tac/Okot (assuming we get her in the portal)

Raven
Latson
Kneepkens
Kitts
Edwards

would be my best guess.
Dawn will go with different combos game to game so the top 8 will still get their fair share of minutes / chance to close out a game when contested.

I don’t see how Latson shot 46% for her career so far and averages 5 apg and gets a label like shot chuker and ball hog? Lol it’s laughable.
It is--esspecially when you compare her numbers to the former Louisville/LSU/TCU and VT/UK guards--both first round picks in last night's WNBA Draft.

Wow...according to ESPN Gianna Kneepkens is the 4th rated transfer player while Latson is No.1. Fulwiley is rated as the number 5 transfer available. If South Carolina lands Kennpkens then the Fulwiley departure will be upgraded with the No. 1 and 4 players. Wow again....

If Edwards and Kitts start it's likely that one of them will be on the wing in a big lineup, imo.

Seemed like Madina Okot was being predicted to South Carolina. Any update? Thought I read someone tweet that LSU is also a player for her.

I think Kitts is the puzzle in all these starting lineup forecasts. She is a really talented player, too talented not to play, but

I don’t want to sell her short, but I don’t think she’s the rock Dawn can rely on in pressure games. This means she shouldn’t dominate playing time, which is likely to happen if she starts. If she starts as the 4 next to Edwards the frontcourt is likely to be soft on defense. If she plays the 3 next to Edwards and Dauda (or some other 5) team speed suffers. I doubt Dawn is ready to start Agot or Ayla, but either of them could look better at the 3 at some point in the season.

I’d guess (just a guess) in November Dawn starts Raven, Taniya, Tessa, Joyce, and Chloe just because that’s the most experienced group and Taniya needs to find her way into the lineup. Maryam comes off the bench first.

But at some point in January, especially if Ashlyn is ready to play, the starting lineup could change with Maryam starting and Chloe and Ashlyn coming off the bench depending on whether offense or defense is the need.

Chloe was the SEC tournament MOP and NCAA regional MOP. People keep wanting to put her on the bench, but se’s a rock
That’s fair, and my criticism is not deep. I like Chloe’s game, and she averaged 10 and 8 all season. Those are solid numbers for a starting 4. It’s just that in the loss to UCLA she seems pretty clearly to be a weak point, and in the loss to Texas. And for the record, she did better in the win against Texas, though Lee and Mwenentanda were clearly off their games in that one. And in the first loss to UConn (sorry to bring up a sore spot) she scored a few baskets but began to shrink from open elbow jumpers once the tide had turned.

This is why I said she may not be ‘the rock’ Dawn needs to build that frontline around. That has to be Joyce, but not if she’s playing the 5. Either Chloe plays the 4 next to Joyce or the 3 next to Joyce and some 5. Neither configuration looks optimal to me. She looks like she could shine as a 6th woman to me. She could be a game changer in that role.

And I know this criticism is unfair since I’m cherry picking the 3 toughest games to evaluate Chloe. But there aren’t a lot of losses to choose from last season.
