Is there any Husky pregame gathering Friday before the St. John’s game? I recall something in the past being held at Legends. Thx

I used to have a list of UConn frequeted bars, but I'm guessing it's obsolete. With the destruction of the Hotel Penn btwn 33-32, etc, changes in the neighborhood. Went by there on 3 days last week. Lots of dwellers on 8th Ave.

In the past, I could never find a UConncrowd in a bar near MSG. Do u guys really show up somewhere?

ps - Stout moved to 35th St

Pregame with whoever you’re with wherever and get to the arena early and enjoy there. Legends is like walking into Ted’s on nickel night but worse cause you’re waiting minutes for drinks and have no where to sit or move. Fun environment if you’re into that and its an experience but if the the goal is to Pregame it may be a while till you’re game and then you and everyone else are walking over to msg to wait in more lines.

The environment at legends is what makes it with all the pregame hype and students/alumni, and past players but once again if the goal is to pregame I’d go somewhere less crowded. If you decide to go, get there early and grab a table for you and whoever you’re with.

There is a business school event at legends before the game that has a portion of the bar reserved. It'll be worse than usual this year

We usually go to Walters on 29th and 8th. Not too crowded. Great bartender.

Side note - Have a pair of tickets in section 227 that I'm selling for face. Love to get em in the hands of Husky fans.

Does the UConn alumni association have a NYC presence? They should take the lead on this. In Boston, they organize watch parties at area bars.

They built the relationship with Legends and have been the hosts of events there since pre-pandemic.

The guidance as always has been Legends and Jack Demsey's as the main UConn bars (same owners or at least used to be). Understand they can get packed -- after that it's as others have said there are other options in the area they just will not be UConn centric / sponsorsed.

This is a good problem to have as when UConn first started out at Legends it was never super packed but now the fanbase as at or near its peak and so everyone wants in -- that's great!

There are no venues short of a conference meeting space around MSG that could handle all UConn fans under one roof and Legends is one of the biggest bars in that part of town.

Grabbing dinner a few blocks away then walking there with a buddy. Pregame at Legends is worse than 1990s Patty O’Brians for Mardis Gras.

Legends is, and always has been, a tourist spot. There are about eighty million better places to pregame in NYC before MSG.

Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded.
