Going with the Hartford method of announcing the drop immediately after making the tournament. Is this finally the end for the NEC?

St. Francis is in financial trouble. It'll be more interesting when the financially healthy schools bail on D1. The Ivy League teams can afford not to play the NIL and rev share games, but stay D1. Will the Patriot League bail at some point? Davidson, Richmond? Just thinking of some of the wealthier LACs that play D1. I think Richmond is the only one that gets any attendance at games so maybe their student body (and alums) would care.

Another NEC school, St Francis College (Brooklyn) dropped its entire athletics department in 2023. It had the oldest basketball program in the city.

.-.
The writing is on the wall for a lot of small private/public schools. Its sad but the reality

Bryn Athyn College, near Philadelphia, is dropping all of its Division III sports to club teams.
