I think a bunch of us saw this coming given their disaster of a season and the trickle of FBI news becoming part of the landscape.

edit: sorry link doesn’t seem to come through but I think yahoo sports reported

Better than the lists I’ve seen so far…
I like Billups. Brad isn't going to hire an ego-centric coach for big money. I am thinking Billups or Cassell get the job and Larrinaga is given a lot of power as the right-hand Xs and Os man. The NBA is moving back towards former players as coaches since they seem to have better relationships with the players, which makes sense.

Billups has a single year of coaching experience

Never underestimate the Squid's ability to ride out of town just ahead of the posse.
And get paid BIG money along the way. His success has been predicated at being able to get recruit$...he doesn't have that advantage in the NBA. Does anyone think he will be a better NBA coach this go round?

Sometimes I think we overthink coaching especially in the NBA. Much of what they do is player management versus game planning. For that reason, I think any point guard with Billups' or Steve Nash's experience and pedigree can coach in the NBA assuming they have an experienced staff around them.

Popovich's only previous HC job was at Pomona-Pitzer.

Cal is not going anywhere he doesn't have total control

He shouldn’t want control. He’s not a very good coach or manager. He might be able to “recruit” as a player’s coach, but he will be exposed in 2-3 years.
