I know I shouldn't pay much attention to this but what's the BY sense of these trade rumors and potential impact on Steph? I guess its the win now mentality while Durant still has something in the tank. Has anyone heard anything more about Wemby's blood clots?

Wemby is in China on a summer retreat with monks, blood clots are behind him

They’ll include anyone and anything in a trade package for Gianni’s except Wemby and Castle

If its Durant castle will be good durant will basically replace and upgrade harrison barnes. Giannis is a different story either castle lr the #2 would be included there. My gut says they go durant and castle starts next to fox next year

.-.
KD has four years left, two at a level close to being a top player. I don't know why anyone would trade a ton of young talent and draft picks just to pay him a quarter billion dollars while he calls it a career.

KD seems to prefer Spurs, by all accounts.

I’d guess Vassell and maybe Sochan, plus a couple picks.

Wemby, Castle, Fox, KD is exciting. I do love Sochan tho.

I’m biased but I think if the Spurs had to trade a young prospect for KD, they’d keep Castle and trade #2

If you want to keep a big PG that can attack downhill and get teammates involved, why wouldn’t you keep the guy that just won ROY doing it (averaging 15 points a game, 19+ in the last 2 months of the season) instead of trading him and hoping the new rookie can replicate it?

Desmond Bane just got traded for 4 first round picks so the bar is set way too high for draft capital in trades this summer. #2 is a good start if they want to make a deal

.-.
Castle is definitely a no and I wouldn't package the #2 to get Durant at this point.

Wemby's timeline for a chip probably isn't for a few years. Durant is injury-prone and 37. I'm not convinced the deal would be worth it either. Draft Harper and see if he or Castle can learn to shoot well enough to be a 3-headed monster with Wemby by 2028

I think any deal that the Spurs will make will HAVE to involve Castle and the number two pick. I think if the Spurs want to improve they have to look at all of the alternatives. Whether that is for KD or Giannis. If I was the Spurs I probably wouldn't trade for KD but if it's for Giannis....

I will never understand the Durant hype. Top 15-20?player all-time, sure. But he’s been on borderline super teams and they always flame out minus the Warriors teams who would’ve likely continued to win rings without KD.

If you can get him, get him, but no need to ship away your franchise’s future.

I sort of see where you're going with all that but the incongruity of your first two sentences - "I don't get the hype" and "he's one of the best 15-20 dudes to ever pick up a basketball" - is pretty funny.

lol fair enough. There’s no doubting his place in history but he’ll be 37 by tip off in October with a history of underperforming at these mini-super teams recently. But I’ll admit, I know nothing about NBA.

I'm with you, and I know exactly what you mean.

KD and Aaron Rodgers. Why the media and GM's continue to fawn and bend over backwards for players who haven't made a shred of difference when it comes to winning in years is beyond me.

They came within an inch of beating Milwaukee with Brooklyn, and who knows how far they go then. One toe on the three-point line. And the Phoenix thing is a sad excuse for a super team, mostly because the other super-parts are redundant and/or bad.

KD is a polished NBA vagabond who is in search of a fit for his last NBA chip. Given his inability to find this fit so far in his travels since the Warriors, I am not sure that he will succeed in his remaining playing years. But I wish him well in his search.

KD to spurs makes sense - you wouldn't give up 2 or castle. I think the only player you give either of those things up for would be giannis, and it doesn't seem like they are too interested in that.

Vassell, Sochan, Keldon Johnson, Harry Barnes and the 14 pick...some combo of those things can get you a really meaningful upgrade to help this team take the next step.

Will certainly be interesting to see the offseason unfold

That Bane trade is what got me worried

I think they are looking for a repeat of Brady and the Bucs

Durant has one year left on his contract and is due ~55 million for 25-26. A trade for Durant will require an extension, with a small bump each year, meaning an additional ~180 million if he agrees to only three additional years (he will have leverage if a team gives up a lot for him).

I don't see why a young team (Spurs) would do this.

I get that, but Bane is younger, under contract for longer, and is a perfect fit in Orlando. Some of those picks Orlando gave up were to help offset Memphis taking on a bad contact (KCP), and a not great contract (Cole Anthony). Just as importantly, none of what Orlando gave up is as valuable of an asset as Castle or Harper. I don’t think Durant is going to bring back as much as people think. I could be wrong.

Why would you want his vibe on a young team? 50 mill for an injury prone moody outside shooter. Nah..

It seems the general public overvalues the worth of #1 picks. Chances are none of the picks in the future will ever be as good as Bane is now. The Magic sees a window opening with their core and took action. That's how you do it.

I think people have the wrong takeaway about the Desmond Bane/Mikal Bridges/etc. trades. The general feeling I've seen has been Bane got 4 1sts, imagine what Giannis is going to command, when in reality I think it should be Bane got 4 1sts, you're not getting Giannis with an offer based around a bunch of picks

Most of the time it was that Packer's D that killed them - but a couple of years are on Rodgers. Someone published some stats about Brady's D v. Rodgers' D over the years - numbers were eye-popping.
