UConn POI's Smith and Robinson on the 1st team, Vukosa on the 2nd, Palmer on the 3rd, and Harpring, Crittendon, and Makeer named honorable mentions.

This guy can shuffle around his stats and computer rankings however he wants, it's just one guy's opinion. But listing Harpring as HM is amusing. He's obviously never seen her play. And Palmer 3rd team? They are 2 of the best 5 players in the country if you're picking a team to play and win a game.

Personally, I think he really likes PGs, and there are three of them on the first star team. Quite odd that Saniyah Hall is nowhere to be found. On his third team there are Betts, Davidson and Palmer, three players who have a very strong chance of making the USA U19 team (Betts and Davidson had an important role with the U18 team USA last summer) in the next World Championship next year. I would add to this trio, Agot Makeer who can also play as a PG and Saniyah Hall, who is not even in the honorable mentions and I wouldn't mind having them compete against his first two all-star teams.

Obviously, everyone's opinion is personal. For example, the first preliminary national rankings are out for the upcoming season for high school teams. In the ESPN HoopGurlz ranking, we find Montverde and IMG Academy, in positions 1 and 2 respectively, which aren't even among MaxPrep's 25. Both teams are present in the other two rankings I've seen, Blue Star and Sporting News, but I think one of them must be completely wrong here.

You might be too hard on him. He did say this about Palmer.

Some are still catching on, but Palmer was already one of the top all-around players in the country – and Pennsylvania’s Gatorade Player of the Year – as a freshman.

Right. That’s why she shouldn’t be 3rd team. And Harpring was the best player in that Select tournament that some of those kids were in. He must have missed it.

From my understanding, MaxPreps requires a certain amount of games (seems like it's 1) to be played before a team is ranked. They don't look at last seasons results to inform their rankings. They also consider the quality of opponents in their rankings.

So, at the time of the current rankings being update (11/15/24), hadn't played a game, depending on the time of day for the release. Since they've played three games, one on the 15th and one on the 22nd and one on the 23rd. The game on the 22nd, saw them beat MaxPreps number 12 team, Purcell Marian, so I'd expect Monteverde to be ranked in their next set of rankings.

IMG Academy, is in a similar boat. But they have still only played one game so far, their next game being today. IMG Academy, plays Hebron Christian tomorrow, who MaxPreps's current number 3 team in the nation.
