Sponsorship patches coming?

Yeah this is a no brainer. Easy way for UConn to close the money gap a bit on some of the power conference teams.

This doesn’t sour anything for me. My club soccer team had sponsors on our jerseys when I was 13 (and it was a beer distributor), it’s not a big deal. Hell, my son’s team has a sponsor on his and he’s 7.

I get most don't mind or notice, but I happen to hate it. I find it an eye sore on the general aesthetic of watching the game.

That said the basketball ad patches are way less intrusive than the ones MLB has on the sleeve and helmet.

The giant Madison Reed boxes on the court is 1000x times worse than whatever a tiny little patch will look like

I don't love those either but I've always followed unis/logos since I was younger and the ad patches really cheapen it.

Don't expect most people to agree but at the end of the day we're essentially rooting for laundry. Laundry that has some corporations stamp on it now.

Everything about college basketball/football is gross now. I wasn't kidding about NBA players dropping down to play college ball, that's coming.
Lebron still has 4 years of eligibility. Maybe he and Bronny could go play together in college.

I usually eat chicken or fish, but all I know is whenever I see any game played at Seton Hall I feel like grilling a steak. It never fails whenever I watch their games to see the big board at the scorers table "Beef it's what's for dinner" with a picture of a steak over a hot flame.

That's my contribution to this discussion about advertising and signage.

Yes. There are always other assets/rights tied to the patch deal… courtside and other signage, digital and traditional media ad inventory, tickets/hospitality, promotions, etc.
yeah official jockstrap of the Providence Friars men’s basketball team…

These things are usually annual sponsorship deals but once and awhile a multi year. Had to pick on PC.

Wrong. They are almost never one-year deals. Please provide examples in pro sports of one-year patch deals.

UNLV could have some interesting patches. Some local ranches and some protection for those ranches.

BetMGM was a one year before multi-year. I think FTX was also one year. Forgot if Aquafina was re-upped each year for MLB but to say almost never is a stretch. Plenty are multi-year, but a lot start as one year and if good for both sides they went multi. Others just fizzled after one eyar.

This is terrible. I don’t get how this is a good idea.
Just my opinion: UConn is a huge brand in college basketball. If we get money that goes 10x further than most average D1 programs then it’s a win for us. I’d rather continue to win and get great players for wearing a tiny patch than not.

You really know nothing on this topic. The FTX umpire patch was a multi year deal. You know why it ended early? Sam Bankman Fried. That’s why. BetMGM? Which deal? The Tottenham practice kit? Not going back and forth with someone who is just throwing things against the wall. You’re wrong. That’s it.

Ahem - I worked in sponsorship for Major League Baseball. There were dozens of nouns, the official thing of MLB that were one year, then if successful a 3 year.

Fine if you want this board to be a roast calling out people as wrong when two posts in you declare victory. I will disengage with those who have to resort to such tactics as some of us do not feel compelled to declare how amazing we are at others expense.
