Not a good start for USA. Turkey up 10-5 in first game.

USA ranked 1, Turkey 8, but Turkey has beaten many good teams and won the EU champ

We look a bit slower to the ball, Turkey getting many tips and we are late to the ball.

Nice stuff by Logan and Foluke, then kill by Foluke.

many long rallies.

13-10 Turkey, first game

Destiny Hooker and others starting to heat up - USA with the lead

Card, you can sure tell that volleyball is a huge sport at Stanford. Love your enthusiasm for USA volleyball! I don't know a lot about it, but I enjoy watching it. Any Stanford alums on the team? My Omaha family are big University of Nebraska women's volleyball fans, and volleyball draws more fans than their women's basketball team.

Thanks! Yeah, Nebraska is huge for vball. Stanford greats, Logan Tom and Foluke Akinradewo are on the USA team.

up 2-0 and up in the 3rd game.

Some kind of achilles injury, coach does not think it's torn, but no details pending complete examination.

Omg. I went back and watched Tivo of the match, and Berg said something popped. Sh&T!!! this would be huge as she is our captain and setter!

On a lighter note, best announcer comment I've heard, "It doesn't matter who's standing in front of the six foot four Hooker".

Destinee Hooker in one of three great Longhorn alums at these Olympics (along with Sanya Richards-Ross and Kevin Durant). Too bad Aaron Peirsol isn't still in the pool.

Current longhorn football player marquise Goodwin participated in the long jump but unfortunately did not advance to the finals.

Berg said she hopes to play on Tues.

She said "I'm OK. I felt something different that wasn't worth pushing through.'

I hope so!

Destinee Hooker, that's gotta be one of the coolest names at the Olympics.
