Serena crushes V. Azarenka: 6-1, 6-2 in the semis

on to the Final, against Sharapova !!

Good for Serena. Love seeing one of the loudest grunters in the world go down. Now she just needs to beat the skirt off of Sharapova.

She did not crush her - she cut her up into little pieces, crushed those pieces even more, put them in a blender, and then fed them to her dogs.

It was like watching a varsity star smoke a freshman...only Serena, somehow, wasn't ranked #1.

Azarenka really didn't get into the match at all until she was down 1-6, 0-4.

Not bad on hardcourt either- five Aussies and three US Opens

Down goes Novak!!!

Federer remains #1, even if he doesn't win gold Sunday. Kind of hope he does though, even if it wouldn't break my heart to see Andy win in GB.

You've been listening to Fishy too much... ;)

That would be a wonderful thing to see --

Who knows? Karma may be against the Fed getting Olympic gold, like Moses doing everything right until that fateful ending.

Well if Andy's going to do it, the circumstances are in his favor. In his home country, with a far more raucous crowd than at Wimbledon, against a Federer who hasn't been playing his best brand of tennis and just had to play a long and mentally grueling match.

Having said all of that, Federer has been preparing for this Olympics for a long time. He's had it circled as the one thing he hasn't done, and where better to do it than at Wimbledon? It's why he's held on and done his damnedest to stay at or near the top of the sport, even at a relatively advanced age in tennis terms. Years of preparation have lead to this one opportunity to win a gold medal and check off that final box. Knowing how Fed's wired, I expect he's going to play his best tennis of the Olympics Sunday despite the grueling match today. Andy will have his country behind him. As with the Wimby final, the said thing is that one of them has to lose.
