Spain/Portugal

I think you mean anti-Spanish not anti-hispanic

That distinction only exist in the United States.

Hispanic in Spain and the rest of the Spanish-speaking world has its origins in Hispania the old roman province. But it is used for centuries to refer to Hispanic culture as a whole particularly after the rise of the "Catholic Monarchs" (Monarquia Catolica or Hispanica as referred to in Spain) and the unification of Spain.

Hispanic, Hispanidad, Hispanophone all include the spanish speaking regions of Spain and the Americas.

In the U.S they use the term hispanic to refer solely to spanish speakers south of the border often excluding Spaniards

Anyway, when I say anti-hispanic I mean a rejection/resistance of not just the language but the culture as a whole.

I'm getting deeply off topic though... So let me avoid further derailing Drew's thread
