I hear Cora has 5 years of NCAA eligibility left? Anyone know if he can play PF?
They used to care about winning. But ever since they took on Redbird Capital as an equity partner all they care about is squeezing every last dime out of the franchise. It's all about the bottom line. Should have seen it coming. All private equity ever cares about is the cash flow and the sale proceeds. I wish they would sell the team and take their profits, pay the capital gains tax and ride into the sunset. It's time.I wish ownership fired themselves
I'm not a Mets fan and don't follow them but how do Mets fans feel about Steve Cohen? He wants to win very badly and has spent lots of his own money to try to win but it doesn't seem to work. So I guess you need to have the will to win, spend the money, but also make good decisions.Luckily for the coaching staff the Mets were rained out today.....they're next on the chopping block. The GM is really the one that should be gone but not likely a month in.
Yeah, he abuses the bullpen horribly. Pulls starters too early, pitches guys and they cruise through the inning in 10 pitches, then pulls them for no reason. Gets to late innings having used everyone other than the closer. The only guys Cora doesn’t platoon and yank in and out of the lineup. His obsession with left/right matchups causes him to make terrible lineup choices and even worse bullpen decisions.
Steve Cohen is light years ahead of the Wilpon's....he has the money and will spend, just poor decisions (by those he's hired mainly). Eventually one hopes the right mix of management & players will pan out.I'm not a Mets fan and don't follow them but how do Mets fans feel about Steve Cohen? Yeah some of the hitting metrics are just plain strange. They're one of the worst teams at swinging at pitches in the zone (they swing the least). And one of the worst teams at swinging at pitches outside the zone (chase rate). The talent isn't really there but the plan of attack isn't either. The lineup isnt great, but none of the hitters seem to go up with a plan. So, that's the hitting coach. It was time to let at least those 2 go.
They have SIX guys hitting below .200. And 4 SPs w ERAs over 6. But let’s fire the coaching staff. Can Henry fire Breslow and then himself? They should have been the first ones to go.
I knew Cora was in trouble when in the game article the last 2 or 3 days they mentioned the clubhouse was like a funeral and players were just looking at their phones and nobody was talking. That's a toxic environment. I do think Cora had something to do with it because he wasn't happy with the players Breslow gave him and he let it be known. Players pick up on that stuff.
Why should they be good? Because Driveline doesn't lie? Cora kept that clown show alive for as long as he could. Another job is his whenever he wants it. Do we have to rethink the the Mookie trade now? Betts can't stay healthy and Connor Wong is the Sox best hitter.Thank God. Overdue. We can complain about Breslow or Chaim but this should be a good team as it is.
Guys who have been good before aren’t good. It’s not complicated. Wong played hurt all last year. He’s not bad. Rehashing the trades doesn’t matter. There is lots of young talent and the owners were cowards and didn’t just go through the rebuild that was needed. Bogaerts should have been traded. Why should they be good? Cora's time was coming. He had overstayed his welcome with his awful lineups and not developing the young stars appropriately. Not saying Cora was the only reason as the lack of any power hitters on this team is criminal and besides Crochet whi else is a power pitcher for the starters? Only way Red Sox will be permanently fixed is John Henry sells the team as he is just living off past laurels and not willing to spend anything for a top market team like the Red Sox.View attachment 120029Obviously non basketball news here, but this forum is probably a 40/40/20 split (Sox/Yanks/Mets)… and we are all thirsty for some breaking news.

Well Cora wasn't a great manager. Not letting Rookies young players to play more to protect their splits like Abreu and now Mayer this year while keeping a noodle arm Story at SS. He needs to play 2nd as he is an awful SS at his age. Playing light hitting IKF too much. Also, not even attempting to trade Duran or Yoshida(Paying off some of his salary) in the offseason was a big oversight. It's funny. The owners treat the team like they are in a low to mid-major market, mix and match players in such a way that they can't field a competitive team, and then blame the coaches. It's sad, really.
