I went back and forth between Creighton/Colorado and South Dakota/Miss.
Ole Miss. did not look like a mediocre team...#7 seed. But 10 seed South Dakota looked real...pretty much schooled Ole Miss.
Problem is....they will undoubtedly face Wichita #2 seed Baylor come Sunday..a different kettle of fish.

South Dakota played a pretty high quality OOC schedule this year and SDS kept the pressure on them all year in conference. I think SDS is better than many teams that made the tourney.

SD has been the “small school” favorite of mine for about five years. ( my cousin is a prof there). I think they can hang with Baylor.

SD is a very good and well coached team. Would not take them lightly at all.

Honestly I always thought they would be a tougher matchup for Baylor than Ole Miss.

I've enjoyed South Dakota for a few years now. Hannah Sjerven and teammates just ate up Shakira Austin, who's projected to be a top draft WNBA draft pick. The Yotes play team basketball. I wonder if Dawn Plitzuweit is on the radar of any teams ISO coaches, and whether she'd be interested.

They're also a good example of how mid-to-low majors with a few super seniors might make more noise this year.

South Dakota was a tough one for me. I watched a few of their games this year and they looked pretty solid. But I figured with Ole Miss playing some pretty good basketball in the tough and rugged SEC, they would be seasoned pretty good and beat South Dakota. Hats off to South Dakota. Great game.

Coach Plitzuweit has done a great job at South Dakota and she does not get the respect that she deserves. I do remember reading some where that she was on the radar of Mississippi State when Coach Mcray-Penson stepped down. Teams in need of a coach, need to make a call. If that is Coach Plitzuweit's goal to coach at one of the Power 5 Conferences. I love what she has done at South Dakota.

I'm not sure why coaches (Coach Plitzuweits in general) would want to leave their great situation and go to a cup half empty situation and continue to build the great situation they have going. Hopefully she stays because she and SDSU have a great rivalry.

I agree on the whole South Dakota/SDSU rivalry. It has been fun to watch. Also, with coaches leaving one great situation to take over a half empty situation, just depends on the coach and their goals. Some coaches view some programs as a way to add to their resume with eyes on those so-called Power 5 schools. Some coaches are cool staying at the so-called Mid-Majors. Nothing wrong with either approach. I do hope that Coach Plitzuweits continues her run at South Dakota. She has done a great job there.

South Dakota has a solid team with tournament experience. SC had played them the last 3 years and a couple of the games were competitive. When I saw the matchup, I thought it would be tough for Ole Miss to advance.

I believe Sjerven was a JR when SC played South Dakota Boston's freshman year. She must be on one of those 6-year plans.

A year off due to a transfer and the free covid year.

Right now it's SD 34 Baylor 23 at the half.

SD still looking good. Baylor - not so much.
