And if he kicked Dawn's ass and won by 30, would he have still acted the same way after the game and made a big deal about the timing of her handshake that did actually happen?Well according to him. Be on time. If Geno can be there on time shouldn’t Dawn? I know to you this is subtle and minor. But to him it seemed like disrespect and obviously he felt she did it on purpose, it wasn’t like she was in the bathroom and came back and apologized. She knew what she was doing and probably didn’t take the time to apologize or say hey i didn’t hear the announcement. So let’s not kid our selves. Geno wouldn’t make a big deal out of nothing in my mind when it comes to people. He’s one of the most perceptive people I’ve seen.
More Yanna next season ?Not in a rude way, but that's not good enough when it counts. We need to be more athletic, I'm talking like Kalana Greene, Tiffany Hayes, someone that can handle the physical teams like tonight. Jovana I think and hope will be a good player, but like Blanca, she won't be used to this kind of physical and athletic team. If this isn't addressed, we won't beat teams with this style. Gotta have some rough physical players with attitudes, can't have all nice girls. Then men are the same, need more physical players, gone too pretty. Need a mix.
Last year when Dawn was firing off F-bombs as UConn destroyed SC, I don’t remember Geno saying anything about it, and I certainly don’t remember anyone on the BY calling for her to apologize. In fact, as I recall, the BY thoroughly enjoyed Dawn’s frustrated profanity. And if he kicked Dawn's ass and won by 30, would he have still acted the same way after the game and made a big deal about the timing of her handshake that did actually happen?
And some were hoping to see more of it in the run up to last night's game.Last year when Dawn was firing off F-bombs as UConn destroyed SC, I don’t remember Geno saying anything about it, and I certainly don’t remember anyone on the BY calling for her to apologize. She shot 57% this year and had the best assist to turnover ratio in the country and spearheaded a defense that caused more turnovers and points off turnovers then any other team in the nation while also leading the nation in fewest points allowed and margin of victory. It was 1 bad game for the team but certainly wasn’t her fault at all she did her job as usual and was more efficient then SC’s PG and played tremendous defense as usual. When KK is on the floor and your 5 cannot create offense the other team can focus on 3 players. That 3rd player shot 30% from 3 this year. So if you are designing your Defense, where do you place your focus. That said, KK and that 3rd player are the heart of our defense.
That's because her f bombs were not directed at Geno in the handshake line. Who cares who she f bombs during the game...from what I can tell, its always directed at the refs.Last year when Dawn was firing off F-bombs as UConn destroyed SC, I don’t remember Geno saying anything about it, and I certainly don’t remember anyone on the BY calling for her to apologize. I strongly disagree about Sarah. She has two more years. I think the mauling she was taking made her very frustrated. Ripping her own shirt was an indication of how far under her skin they’d gotten. When Geno used the torn shirt to go off on SC & the refs, I think she felt such deep embarrassment at her behavior that she couldn’t reset. And no one on this team is anywhere close to
Paige or any of the truly great Uconn players.
Sarah is a good player, but unless she improves a lot will never be in the top six.
DT, Sue, Maya, Stewie, Tina, Paige, and Rebecca.
It's been noted by several people in the thread. The consensus I got based on responses was that in theory it makes a lot of sense, but poorly executed.
One of Geno’s specific complaints last night was that Dawn was intimidating the refs’ “using language that would get him thrown out of the game.” So why no complaints last year? That's because her f bombs were not directed at Geno in the handshake line. Let’s let this thread die a natural death rather than my driving a stake through itOne of Geno’s specific complaints last night was that Dawn was intimidating the refs’ “using language that would get him thrown out of the game.” So why no complaints last year?
A stake sounds better. Dracula required a stake.Let’s let this thread die a natural death rather than my driving a stake through it
She was not F bombing the refs. She was not trying to intimidate them last year when she was down 30. She made a specific, directed, premeditated effort to do it this year before the third quarter to gain an advantage and Geno heard it. After 40 years, 12 NCs and 25 , and his apology, this should end. The worst part about it is that a foul mouthed coach who can get away with talking to referees the way no one else can, is now the innocent victim and gets elevated in her status. One of Geno’s specific complaints last night was that Dawn was intimidating the refs’ “using language that would get him thrown out of the game.” So why no complaints last year?
Before you decide that sophomore Sarah Strong is not worthy, let us not forget that DT and Sue were a combined 8 for 25 in the national championship game against Oklahoma in 2002. The year prior, DT went 1 for 15 in the national semifinal game against Notre Dame. Rebecca was nowhere close to great in the 1995 Final Four. Tina Charles had more than she could handle in the 2007 semifinal against LSU.And no one on this team is anywhere close to
Paige or any of the truly great Uconn players.

Dawn was most definitely yelling at the refs last year, in addition to dropping F-bombs. We just didn’t have Geno telling us what she was saying, because he didn’t care when his team was up 30+.She was not F bombing the refs.
