Nice find. I was one of the people who was concerned that Boat would be hell-bent on leaving after this year and try to do too much on his own in order to show-off for his shot at the NBA. I couldn't have been more wrong; this year he has refined his game remarkably well. He's cut down on turnovers and he's playing a better floor game while under control.

I trust him when the ball is in his hands and when he is at the FT line, which is what you want from your PG. Although his PPG are down, his assist/TO ratio has improved and there's no question in my mind that next year he can capably run the team and I think he will greatly benefit from Bazz not being here.

Impressed with Boat's maturation. Good decision.

Look at what Bazz did this year to improve his stock. That has to be an easy lesson for any player that is not under financial hardship to provide for their family in by playing Europe or elsewhere. He made the right choice and who knows- he just might play himself into the league if he shows the same jump his senior year Bazz has showed this year.

With DD most likely coming back as well we are going to have a pretty veteran team. Two of our new players Sam and Rodney are going to be in the age range of a junior when they hit the court next year.

TS is looking more and more like a quality PG (tough as nails and has size)- add to that another year for the bigs to bulk up and improve (and Rack coming in) and our problems in the paint may be a thing of the past.

Two years removed from our HOF coach leaving I could not picture us being in any better place- KO has really done an incredible job!

Nobody would blame you for thinking that way. He was quoted this summer as saying something along the lines of that.

But he's been terrific this year. I've been so so impressed by his ability to let Bazz take the lead and perform in the support role. Really excited for his senior year.

He still has room to improve, obviously. He needs to see the floor better and improve his decision-making, especially on fast-break situations.

But I agree with you... I've been impressed with him accepting his role as 2nd fiddle behind Bazz and adjusting his playing style to fit that role. Having Bazz gone will definitely help Boat play more natural next year.

He has been playing all season like he understood this was Bazz's team and next year would be his chance.

Definitely has some stuff to work on over the summer but there is no one better to learn from than Kevin Ollie. I expect big things from Boat next year.

Agree with everything said here. Last year, I was not hopeful about our chances if he was running the team down the road, but he's definitely accepted that he has a role to fill on this team and it's not as flashy as it was last year. That bodes well for next year.

It sounds like Boat wants to be "The Man" next year.

If UConn somehow catches lightening in a bottle (remember 2011), would that change things for Boat?

Well if Boat ever wants a shot at the NBA, he'll need to stay and show how he can be a dominant PG by himself. I doubt he or Daniels is going anywhere. The draft is just too good this year. It's amazing Shabazz has improved his stock given how deep the draft is. Potentially one of the deepest drafts ever.

You can thank Bazz for him not leaving. For Boat to defer this season says alot about his personality and proves the selfish talk flat out wrong. One more year with Ollie, and having his own team, will determine his NBA stock. He just couldn't do that this year, because this is Bazz's team. The unselfish Boat conceded and went with that.

Storyline: A brash Chicago superstar comes to UConn with a huge ego. After 3 years he is totally a team player. That people is maturity and effects of college. Its classic 'boy becomes man' acted out in front of our eyes.

If Ryan and Deandre return next year's team will be approaching the 2004 level of silly amounts of talent. The cupboard will be full. Just need the front court guys to really hit the weight room.

There's no Emeka Okafor anywhere in sight. And I think you are overdoing it with the comparison of the other guys. We'll def have a deep team next year though.

Boat and Rodney next year in the back court with Terrance supplementing minutes off the bench is going to be electric. Smart move, Ryan.

Whatever you guys are smoking, please send some here.

Off with the rose colored glasses guys.

If he's leaving early it's to work for the Home Depot.

At his size, he would need to average high teens to low twenties to even be considered next year.

His handle is not great and when a sizable guy is on him he can't put it on the floor and take it to the hoop. Way too many flaws.

Would you waste a draft pick on him?

KEA was a much, much better player than him and he couldn't stick

Europe is his only chance.

They never hit the weight room anyway and if they possibly do, you don't see the improvement

And how do you see "silly amounts of talent?

How did I not have you on ignore before these posts?! Good god.

"his handle is not great", pretty much the most fallacious comment i've heard on boat ever.

If I had a criticism of Boat this year, it's that he can get too emotional. It hasn't happened too often but sometimes he gets caught up in the one upsmanship of a game.

That and getting kicked in the man parts too often.

Comment wasn't completely off-base. His dribble does get pretty loose sometimes especially when trying to break the press. He had one turnover towards the end of the Cinci game that was a prime example.

I think that turnover had more to do with his lack of awareness than his handle. You can question Boat on a lot of things, but not his handle.

He wants to be the next Kemba or Shabazz. And he will, once it's his time to shine.

I hope he comes back. At the beginning of last year, I was a bit worried about Bazz and Boat playing with one ball. It was never a problem. And this year, Boat has taken his competitiveness to new highs. He takes quite a few licks but gets back in, playing balls to the wall. He went after a loose ball on the floor with reckless abandon against Cincy in a fashion I haven't seen for awhile. If he stays, he'll be the team leader and we will be in good hands. And let's not forget the last play of the BCU game. Onions!
