OT: Songs that make you Happy

So many Beatles’ songs make me smile.

Remember when we were young and would call a local radio station to dedicate a song to our wife or girlfriend. I’d like to dedicate this song, Thank You Girl, to Lou and Dorka. I’m sure we’re all very thankful they decided to make a brief stop in Storrs, CT.

This is a bit different from the ordinary post but here goes. This rendition of the Edwin Hawkins favorite ,by this Mennonite choir is beautiful and the solo is chillingly so. If you do listen go right to the end, because there is a pause before the last high note. In the Easter season this is up lifting. Enjoy.

Icona Pop - I Love It. From 'Bad Moms'

Generally speaking, there aren't a lot of pop songs that stick with me, but this movie made me laugh out loud so many times.
For some reason I was thinking that this song was related to the Challenger driving scene, but it wasn't.

That made my otherwise mundane day happy!

When I was in 8th grade I did a report on something -- maybe the roaring 20's -- and I remember a quote about Dixieland jazz: "It was good-time music for people who wanted to have fun" I've seen these guys a few times; the best was actually at UConn probably in the mid-late 70's, and included this piece:

This one from Epica is Kingdom of Heaven III -- The Antediluvian Universe. This is a kind-of live studio version, live-streamed during the pandemic. Some great visuals, and just a spectacularly beautiful and uplifting song.

Yes, for sure. We saw them in New Orleans a couple of times. They are usually a pick up band of old timers who just love to play. We also saw them at Symphony Hall in Boston believe it or not. Tuba Skinny is continuing the old time traditions as well as Steamboat Willie if he still is playing. I'll try to find some AfroPop, which is also lots of fun too.
