Songs About Time

David Bromberg, A Child's Song....one beautiful and heartfelt song about leaving home:

Each of us must do the things that matter
All of us must see what we can see
It was long ago you must remember
You were once as young and scared as me.....

.-.
Mandolin Orange again. Watch Emily's face as she plays, the song is just a part of her.

Soulful Bonnie at her best - "Too Long at the Fair"

I've been downtown such a long, long time
I'll never make it home by seven
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair.........

Bob Marley, "Waiting in Vain"

Like I said: "It's been three years since I'm knockin' on your door
And I still can knock some more
Ooh girl, ooh girl, is it feasible?
I wanna know now, for I to knock some more............

.-.
Vashti Bunyan, Train Song:

It's so many miles and so long since I've met you
Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you
But suddenly now, I know where I belong
It's many hundred miles but it won't be long........

Tucker Boys and "This Ol' Cowboy" - saw them live 4 times in the 70's, what a gut honest great band:

Well I'm sittin' down in San Anton'
Waiting on an eight o'clock train
My woman left me here last night
Things ain't been quite the same

.-.
Dang, another one. This is a standard, a whole bunch of people have recorded it, I have no idea who did it first. But it's always hard to beat Emmylou!

edit--Emmylou played with a whole bunch of talented musicians over the years. The Nash Ramblers was probably her best lineup. Sam Bush is a wildman on that mandolin!
