Songs About Time

Merrilee Rush heart breaker:

Interesting trivia associated with this tune. Song was written by Chip Taylor, born James Voight, brother of Jon. A third brother, Barry is a highly decorated geologist and actually predicted the Mount St. Helens eruption after being asked to study the volcano.
In addition to Angel of the Morning, Taylor also wrote Wild Thing, a hit for The Troggs and obviously prominent in the movie, Major League.

Stayed in bed all mornin' just to pass the time
There's somethin' wrong here, there can be no denyin'
One of us is changin', or maybe we've just stopped tryin'
And it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Somethin' inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it
Oh, no, no, no, no, no

Age dependent and somewhat obscure. This group was from the late 60s/early 70s San Francisco hotbed that included the Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Quicksilver Messenger Service...They were invited to Woodstock but declined due to some legal/management issues so the Airplane went in their place. The rest is history: Slick & company went on to huge success while Beautiful Day languished and finally imploded. Probably a life lesson in there somewhere...
