Ali Campbell is the former lead singer of UB40 who put out a solo CD in 1995..

You guys are doing great!!

Oh wow! I just saw this thread! Well, I won't bore you with a ton of videos but quite a few songs came to mind (in addition to the great ones already listed!):

1. I'm Like a Bird (Nelly Furtado)
2. Down Came a Black Bird (Lila McCann)
3. Howard the Duck...yeah!! Ok, so maybe this is from the movie (with the same name) but it reminds me of my childhood LOL
...ok so a real # 3
3. On Eagle's Wings (for all you Church folks out there) :D
4. Stray Birds (Rose Cousins)--I saw her tour with Mary Chapin Carpenter and it's such a great song. In fact, this one deserves posting ;)

Let me ask for rulings:

Up Where We Belong -- where the eagles fly, on the mountain high?

The Wind Beneath My Wings - this has to be ok; extended bird metaphor, right?

Deeper than the Holler - longer than the song of a whipperwhill? something about a Robin on a springtime window sill?

Song has to be about birds? Or bird reference being repeated?

No lyric references!! And no band/artist names!!

There might have been a dove song earlier, not sure if it was this one. This is listed as Nanci Griffith but I'm pretty sure I'm hearing Lucinda Williams as well.
