Somewhat OT - UMASS starts cancelling OOC games

And which of those two categories did the UMass games (which UMass cancelled) fall?
No surprise, the USMA and UConn remain laser targeted in the scheduling mutually convenient games, e.g., recent cancellations and shifts of prior scheduled games discussed below. Potentially, Army and UConn end up picking up some of the cancelled UMess-Army slots.

While it may not be possible due to Army's recent conference affiliation, I would like to see if we could pick up a couple of the games with Army that UMass cancelled.
Absolutely. Awesome experience, close to campus and an appropriate level of competition.

Shizzle is like the farmer who entered his mule in the Kentucky Derby. He knows the mule won’t win but thinks he will benefit from the association.

We need to build a program that wins football games consistently. If we 2 play lower level P4 games a year, maybe a top one every few years, that is fine. We should be aiming to be a team that would be near the top in the Mountain West or the AAC. That would make us an acceptable team for the ACC or B12 which is where we want to be. In the short term that means playing a G5 schedule where we can succeed in winning 7-10 games each and every year.

Weird... I figured the people that posted out here were just watching the games, but we get to play too?!?!?!
First person usage is rampant on this board. You just have to get used to it while you yourself only use third person.

Wouldn't want to be considered a casual fan...

When you dumb down your scheduling, you dumb down your recruiting. Kids want to play against P4 schools as much as possible if they can't make a P4 roster.

I agree with you, but this is not what Mora said. He said kids don't care about facilities or who you're playing. They only care about NIL. The landscape has changed.

How about playing a good schedule, paying good NIL, and training in already-existing excellent facilities?

And somehow you think you do that by using we instead of UConn? Nah, that's off the mark. Number of posts and reactions is how you do that. Using we denotes you as someone suffering delusions of grandeur or too lazy to write UConn. ;) ;)

If you went there, are and always have been a fan, post on its message board, you still have to write UConn instead of we.
Otherwise you are lazy? I know you are tongue -n - cheekin’ it.

Ask Cincinatti or SMU or Houston or UCF if that is true. If you actually look rather than go with truthiness, you will find that those schools played mostly mid to lower tier P5 teams, the exception being Notre Dame on Cincinnati’s 2021 schedule, and they played 1-2. Even that is consistent with what I suggested. This is UCF’s 2021 non-league schedule: Boise State, Bethune-Cookman, UConn and Louisville. Went 8-4.

2022 they played South Carolina STATE (not the gamecocks) UL, Florida Atlantic and Georgia Tech. Cincinnati played Arkansas, Kennesaw State, Indiana, Miami of Ohio.

Successful G 5 programs play mostly other G5 programs, avoid games where they have little chance of winning, and establish winning traditions. Then when a P4 league comes calling they don’t have to say “But our basketball is really good!”
