Some thoughts

From what we've seen in the past at this point in the season you have to have a player(s) you can depend on in a big spot, but play team ball. You have to have a good defense that can play with weak side help. You need to rebound and you need great guard play. It may be ugly, sloppy, but it must be a fight through it to the last second if you want to continue. Nothing matters at this point but a win. The biggest attribute is you must have confidence in yourself, your team and your coaches.

I have always felt there also needed to be just a bit of luck involved as well, or magic, or fate. Whether it being another team stumbling, or a shot rimming out, or .... Last years games from the E8 on were mostly knife edge results, and Stanford was on the right side of the knife.
