1. Martin has been and continues to quietly be our best three point shooter at 45%. For some reason it doesn’t seem other teams have caught on to this quite yet (they put all their energy into chasing Polley off the line) - I think Wright is smarter than to fall for this trap, but who knows, Martin may get some good looks in spots

2. Bouknight is only shooting 31% from three (albeit a small sample size), which is not indicative of his three point shooting ability (he’s probably more like a 38% shooter). He’s 0-6 in his last three games, and is due for a big game from downtown - especially since Nova doesn’t have anyone who can guard him. They may give him a bit of room as they are wary of him blowing by them, giving him some room to pull up

3. RJ’s assist to turnover ratio has been an impressive 4:1 over the last two games. Think he’ll continue this, and have faith we’ll make our shots with the team at full strength and playing less iso ball

4. Nova has five players that average double digits (three of which - Gillespie, Earl, and Moore average more than 13 per game). Overall, we’ve done a great job keying in on, and limiting, other teams’ top scorers throughout the season. With five players who have the ability to light it up on any given night, however, we’re going to need all hands on deck or else we’ll get burned focusing on one or two guys

Hitting the first three points likely requires Hurley to stick to his guns, and not let Nova bully us into playing small ball where we stand around the perimeter and wait for someone to go to work. Hitting on the fourth point will be a lot tougher - we have some shoddy three point defense (specifically from the likes of Whaley, Sanogo - to not much fault of their own given their compositions). I’m no defensive maestro so I won’t comment on how best to make up for that, but it’ll likely come down to a trade off of how much our bigs are giving us on the offensive end versus costing us on perimeter defense that will make the decision of what our lineups look like, unfortunately.

Overall, I think Jackson may actually be the x-factor today with his ability to guard multiple positions, next level passing ability/movement on offense, and ability to get his in spots. Keep in mind we haven’t seen him really play alongside Bouk yet since he was in foul trouble last game. Could see Akok as a secondary x-factor if he’s up to speed on defense - he hasn’t been yet this season, but we likely need him today in a big way. Get pumped - let’s go huskies!

Martin only takes 2.5 3s per game or one every 12 minutes or so of his game time. Polley takes a 3 every 4 minutes or so that he's in the game. This is the reason teams pay much more attention to him at the arc.

Yeah Villanova really shares the ball. 32nd in the country in assisted per made field goals. 3 pointers are more often assisted and they rank a similar position in the number of 3s attempted per game.
