Paige is within shooting range of a couple of "magic numbers" in the games this weekend that some "numbers guys and gals" might enjoy keeping track of.

Depending on how many games we play this weekend, she can reach 20 points per game for her career if she scores 34 points in one game or averages 27 in two. I think we all know that no Huskie star has ever reached that level in her career to date. I think it safe to say that Paige, whether she reaches that magic number or not, will pass Maya as the career leader in points per game if she plays two games this weekend. She only needs to average 15 points to safely exceed Maya's average points per game record of 19.7.

The other record that she could exceed is for most points scored in the NCAA tournament for her career: The current leaders are as follows:
492 — Caitlin Clark (17 GP) 479 — Chamique Holdsclaw (22 GP) 476 — Maya Moore (22 GP) 446 — Breanna Stewart (23 GP) 444 — Paige Bueckers (20 GP)
So, if she plays two games this weekend, which we all fully expect, she would need to average 24.5 points to set a new record.

Did Breanna Stewart miss a game one year? 4 titles should be 24 games

Breanna Stewart indeed had an illustrious NCAA Tournament career with UConn, winning four consecutive national championships. However, she missed one game during her freshman year in the 2012-2013 season. Specifically, she did not play in UConn's first-round game against Idaho due to a calf injury. This accounts for the discrepancy in her total NCAA Tournament games played.

Based on Paige's 16 points against UCLA, she is unlikely to reach the "magic number" of 20 points per game for her career. She will pass Maya for the highest points per game for her career if she reaches or exceeds 14 points tomorrow vs. South Carolina.

To pass Caitlin Clark for the most points scored in the NCAA Tournament for a career, she is now at 460 points and will need 33 points tomorrow. If she reaches 20 points but not 33 she will be second only to Clark in this category.
