Hot off the presses Mike DiMauro inserts himself into the run up with a collaborative effort that includes some priceless details.

Some great memories on Geno's road to 1,000 career wins

A tease: "Coach said we needed a steal," Svet said, in complete and total deadpan."

A laugh: "The Hart Center at Holy Cross was sold out for the first time and the Crusaders hung in the game for a while. In the second half, Shea Ralph and Anna Kinne almost got in a fight, while Auriemma laughed on the bench. (He loved Anna Kinne). Then near the end with the game hardly in question, Auriemma sat on the bench while a Holy Cross student stood behind him with a sign: "He just farted." Dailey, Jamelle Elliott and Tonya Cardoza almost fell to the floor in laughter."

Good stuff.

Was STUFF the word you were looking for?? Got to love those Holy -ier than Thou students from Worcester Mass-- Uconn men and women had some good nearly great games against those HC teams--super nice coaching staff Always!!!

Shea, that lady--well dressed--thin as a rail--how could she be such a meanie? Well the Ralph outwardly ain't the Ralph inwardly we once saw inside and out playing Hampton and Holy Cross, Tnn, Duke, etc I doubt that there was ever a tougher --pound for pound young lady (some would not call her that)--in a Uconn uniforms eVER..

Just watched the second half of the Holy Cross Game. Kinne got into it with Handsmayer more so than Ralph. It's amazing there wasn't a technical, but I'm willing to bet Stacy threw an elbow before Kinne shoved her. Geno was laughing in admiration on the bench. Best part, though, was watching Shea (my all time favorite) and Svet. They really were amazing.

Nicely written story, with lots of great moments. Because there are z number of reporters interested in UConn, we get the benefit of different perspectives, even at a tone of dwindling newspaper resourced. Stories like this are the result.

OMG, Anna Kinne. The Boneyard was in a frenzy during that game but if it happened today, half the board would expire of a collective heart attack. The kid was nailing three pointers from Boston.
