Solo Ball

That felt like a Ray Allen performance.

Biggest shot of his life has been the shot against Memphis. This guy wants to take every big shot, no fear. And you want him taking those shots too. Win or lose, you want him shooting.

He has perfect form and he needs very little airspace to get that shot off. A catch and shoot dream. AK needs a lot more space to let it rip. Overplay him and he burns past you. He also has a midrange jumpsuit.

Needs to work on defense, finishing at the rim, ballhandling and passing.
It helps that he has like a 6’10” wingspan (or whatever it is) to get his shot off over defenders.

Not sure that's much of a factor here. His shot is just really, really quick. He sets his feet pre-catch--that's a change from last year where his feet were all over the place.

That's a great observation. Boggles my mind how fast he is able to get his shot off on medium contested shots whereas AK and Diarra look like they are in slow motion trying to set up for a three.

He should declare and go through the process and get feedback. But at this point I'd be surprised if he stayed in the draft.
Yeah, guaranteed he'll at least attend the combine and get real world feedback about his draft stock. It would be dumb not to. Unfortunately that means we'll have to be waiting in limbo till he decides to either return to UConn for another year or stay in the draft. Hopefully we'll be basking in the glory of the 3-peat to tide us over till he (and other current Huskies) decide their futures. ;)

And I thought Liam was our best player. Solo has restarted this conversation.

When he adds his handles next season he will be 1st team All BE consideration.
Having to play without Liam, has helped this team in the long run. It allowed guys to step up that normally wouldn't. It also provided minutes for those that might not have gotten as much. Not saying it will result in another championship, but it the team will be battle tested and deeper because of it.

Liam returns this Friday to a blow-the-roof-off home crowd (even if on a minutes restriction). If we can take it to the Johnnies this Friday, the narrative will once again be "Who can stop UConn in the B.E.?" instead of "What TF is wrong with UConn??".
