You have to think that this 'resignation' by Marinatto is just a precurser to something else that is right around the corner. What do you think it is? Some possibilities:

- Split of BE conference between D1A (football) and D1AA (basketball)
- ACC raid of BE (UConn, Rutgers)
- B12 raid of BE (Louisville, Cincy)
- Notre Dame joining another conference in full (ACC, B12,?)
- Notre Dame joining another conference for Olympic sports only (B12, ACC,?)
- BE backing down and taking the ESPN offer for conference rights in the next month
- The new western additions (Boise St, SDSU, etc) backing out of their agreement and now not joining the BE
- Offering full conference rights to the new football only members
- Inviting more non-football schools (Butler, Xavier, ?)
- A couple of BE basketball schools threatening to leave for the A10 (Georgetown, St Johns, etc) Maybe a 100% share of a new A10 TV deal will be more than a 20% share of a new BE all sports deal.

Probably some combination of a few of these with the way things have been going. Wonder what kind of odds you could get in Vegas on some of these happening.

Every single expansion event in the last 2 years has been bad for UConn. It is safe to assume that every additional event will be bad for UConn to. UConn is getting slaughtered worse than any other school in the country in this round of realignment, and we are only in about the mid point. UConn is not going to the ACC, so let's take that one off the table. Virtually every realistic possibility left on the table would be bad for UConn.

It occured to me that if the ND to the Big 12 rumor coming out of ESPN yesterday had any legs that this would be a good time for the Big East to rid itself of ND's puppet..... John Marinatto

The next shoe to drop?

Marinatto's restaurant bill. ........It's obscene.

That would be the death of the Big East conference.

You have to wonder if the B12 may be going for the fatal blow that would create the true 4 power conferences. There is probably about a 1% chance of it happening, but what if the B12 made a huge move and added Notre Dame, Louisville, FSU, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and BYU. That would be an incredible power move! That would basically kill off both the Big East and ACC football conferences in one swoop.

Then the B1G swoops in and takes Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and NC State.

Starting to put the pieces together now and I am going to raise the chances of my 'B12 death blow' scenario above 1%.

In the past couple of weeks we have had: the B12 hire a new commish, rumors of ND to the B12, an article about FSU losing money on sports (planted by FSU?), meeting of BCS leaders for championship discussions, the firing of the BE commish by the basketball schools. This may be smoke indicating a huge explosion about to happen.

The B12 going big with Notre Dame, Louisville, BYU, FSU, Clemson, and Virginia Tech my not actually be that far fetched. This may be the quiet before the storm!

All of the above, natch.

The next shoe to drop is me getting on anti-depressants until I hear some positive news about the world surrounding my beloved Huskies. Internally, we are getting a lot of positive news about the football team, and even started to finally get some positive news about the basketball team (Nolan commits), but good Lord almighty, can something positive happen for our conference situation for once?!?

You must be a blast at parties.

You must be a blast at parties.

You have to give Nelson a pass on this one. It seems that we have had the longest 2011-2012 season that one could possibly imagine, on all fronts. And it doesn't seem to be stopping, now that the graduation ceremonies are over. I'm usually the one in the room that says, "Don't worry....one second is all we need to beat Clemson in the tourney, because Burrell has the ball." But I have to be honest with you, I'm listening right now to the blues (Kenny Wayne Sheppard) and I'm cooling my whiskey on some rocks right now, so I know how Nelson is feeling.

Here's a drink to better times for the national flag blue and white!! Cheers! (Salute!)

I'm actually starting to feel more optimistic because, duck*, there's nothing left to go wrong.
