Here's what I know about them.

This is the Terrier's first NCAA tournament. The odds of winning against UConn is about 1,000,000 to 1.
They have a few players, including their best player, from Connecticut. St. Francis is located in Brooklyn. They have a losing record 16-18 this year and had to win three consecutive road games in the conference tournament to get into the dance. They shot 10 -18 from three in the championship game to win in double digits. That's about all I know.

It's more like SFBK as they are located in Brooklyn not Manhattan.

They're toast!!!

Actually, I watched a good bit of their game against CCSU...it wouldn't surprise me if the game was reminiscent of the game against Idaho a couple of years ago in the first round, except I don't think SFNY will score as much (some of you may recall that Idaho made 5 threes against the end of the UConn bench in the last 2-3 minutes of that game to run their total up to 37).

I was thinking about that Idaho game as well. I'm interested in how much the bench plays. I wonder how much of that last USF game's results were due to fatigue. To win #10 we're going to have to beat ND and South Carolina in 3 days.

UCONN will need time on Sat to get off the rust from no hoops for over 10 days........

One reason Geno does not like the long lay off. His team is playing really well and he'd rather they just keep on playing rather than have time off, but we can't have the women's game taking one iota of the spotlight off the men's tourney, so we're stuck with this schedule.

Nope, both are on the opposite side of the bracket.

The women's tournament is way more compelling.

Nice article in Courant about a CT girl from Canton who plays for SFNY. Big Geno and Uconn fan. Guess she'll be cheering for the Huskies too, at least after the game!

To take a look at St. Francis, go to ESPN3 and watch the game against Robert Morris for the Championship game in the league.

I really can't imagine Geno is spending any time scouting them. Just send the guys out there and let them play.

Sarah went 5 for 6 on 3s in the championship game, 3 for 3 in the second half. Here are her second half threes. You could say she has range.

We have short memories (or at least, I do). With Kia Nurse having shown signs of late-season fatigue, this layoff is exactly the tonic she needs. Rest her injured ankle too. Rest is good. Let the kids play themselves back into form against SFB, then get back to the Quantico style practices, and thence to the championship.

Even though the Central CT women had a great year , it took Double OT for St Francis to beat them. I think that's all I need to know. :p

Do y'all seriously suppose that the Huskies have been RESTING" Somehow that strikes me as highly unlikely. Remember, they look forward to tournaments because they are so restful!

I'm thinking that Geno would NEVER disrespect an opponent and not scout them to a degree. He's a perfectionist and in my mind, never ASSUMES anything, particularly victory. He might not be as involved as he would if it was Maryland or Kentucky but to suggest that he won't scout them at all isn't accurate, at all, IMHO!

A couple of them shots were from way, way, way downtown. Easily NBA range!

The only question is by how many will UConn win by and this goes for any team they play. The more I think about it the more Im amazed at how this team is so much better then any team in WCBB. Tonites game will be over before we walk out of the locker room. I expect Geno to clear the bench early but will allow the starters to play and regain their chemistry as they haven't played in a real game for a long time. UConn by 50+ and it could be more. It is important for our starters to get minutes tonite as RU or Seton Hall could be competitive. I expect once UConn gets rollin Geno will substitute.

This is going to be a fun tournament for UConn as they are making their run for 10. Next season their run for 11 to break Wooden and UCLAs record. Whats even more amazing is in the day and era of BB to be able to do this and be so dominate and to play at this level.

Wonder how much the bench plays. Stewie, Mo, and KML got 40 minutes each in their last game. Over under on TLaw? 6 minutes left in the game.

I don't think it would be disrespectful. In this instance UCONN is the big dog in this battle and shouldn't be worried about anything other than playing UCONN basketball. And quite frankly, I can't imagine SFNY is really putting together a game plan to beat UCONN. If Geno has put together a game plan it is probably just to keep his guys occupied and focused. Just play your own game and let the winner advance. :)

we know that SFNY (as it used to be called) has, historically, been gawd awful, so them being in the Tourney? Huge? Their upset of Robert Morris was pretty huge, too. Fun game to watch
