Did you really expect otherwise last August? Yeah it's been maddening because these kids are playing hard and have had the opportunity for at least two more wins at this point. But this is a very young team.

If you choose to, you can see the future, and it looks pretty good. Shirreffs is only a Sophomore and he's the best QB we've seen in years. Newsome is the big play guy we've been missing for year...another Sophomore, TMyers and Bloom, how long has it been since we've had guys who catch the ball, now we have two tight ends who are... Sophomores. I guess you can throw in Beals, who forgot he wasn't playing soccer one play and then came back a couple of plays later with a touchdown reception. He's a Freshman.

The talent is there and getting better. We've got a head coach who inherited a dumpster fire and at least has some talented guys here who are competing. Oh and guess what, he's a Sophomore head coach.

I've had my doubts about Diaco, his off season patter really got on my nerves, but what you want to see in a second year head coach who is progress. I see it. Is the play calling what I'd like it to be with the benefit of hindsight, of course not, hell I'd like to see a game where I'm not worried about getting the play off on time, but it does seem to me that we are headed in the right direction.

It's frustrating to watch a young team lose winnable games, but it's fun to watch UConn football again. That's what I choosing to focus on, and that and the future.

Some of the most esteemed and knowledgeable posters here were predicting 3 or 4 wins before the season started. Others just saw "2-0" and became irrationally optimistic.

3-9 is improving on w-10 right

We'll win more than 3. At least 4, maybe 5. Can't see us losing Tulane regardless of where the game is, and I think we beat ECU at home. Temple and Houston will be very difficult to win.

Yes. ECU becomes a must win among with Tulane. If we are sitting at 5 come the Houston game you can officially call this season an improvement whether we squeeze win 6 from Houston or Temple.or not.

Anything less than a shot at bowl eligibility in the last game will be a disappointment. I fail to see merely not making mockery of the program as a worthwhile improvement over last season. Which is what I would consider this season to be if we don't get 5 before the last game.

We all said coming into the season that it wasn't just the number of wins -- it would also be losing games without being blown out. Based on the losses to date, it may be that we go from 2 to 4 wins but the year over year improvement over the season is very substantial. I'm pissed too -- and I am pissed at the coaching -- but let's judge seasons based on the full season. It ought to be enough today to be angry we didn't win a game we probably should have won and certainly could have won.

I'll do a 241 tomorrow. I need to calm down first.

Looking forward to the next 241 but I find myself saying why don't we play Max more on short yardage, go for what works like short passes, or run Mikal Meyers off tackle?

I'm not throwing in the towel on a bowl bid yet, but at this rate... yeah, they'll be lucky to finish with six wins.

Bowl game eligibility just got MUCH tougher. We're staring 3-5 in the face after we lose to Cincinnati next week. ECU and Tulane are now MUST wins and we'll have to beat Houston at home or Temple on the "road". I think 4 wins, maybe 5, are much more likely. But I guess you never know but there just seem to be too many areas of concern that need to be cleaned up.

UCF is leading at Temple in the 3rd qtr so anything is possible.

It's this that I need to keep telling myself. I felt the exact same way. If we were competitive in all or the majority of games I'd be very happy. We all knew that going to a bowl game would be luck and that 4 wins would be good. However, staying competitive in our games, up to this point, has to be the biggest take away. We also beat the teams we should have beaten up to this point. Today may have been the exception because we probably should have beaten USF on paper. However, it was easy to get wrapped up in this season, especially after last week's game. Unfortunately, it's back to reality that we aren't there yet.

The bottom line is that we had a shot to beat Missouri and were in it late against BYU. If you told me that would be the case in July or August I would have been ecstatic. Gotta keep that in perspective after games like todays.
