and says, "when are you going up to CT?"

me: "for what?"

dad: "when are you going up to CT for the funeral?"

(i'm thinking geez, he's finally lost it; we went up to CT two weeks ago for uncle Jerry's funeral)

me: "Dad, we already went to the funeral"

dad (insistent) : "No, your girls just lost to Notre Dame, when's the funeral?"

me (calmly, but sounding somewhat baffled): "no they haven't lost, they haven't played yet"

dad (persistent and insistent) "i just watched them lose"

me: "no dad, the game is tonite"

dad: "no, it's not. you missed it. i just watched them lose and your coach is going to have to do a better job next year"

me (lightbulb moment): "no dad, that's a repeat of an old game. the game is tonite."

dad: "oh . it was? do they still have the same coach?"

me: "yes, dad, they do"

dad: "ok, i'll have to watch. she's a good looking woman."

Brought back some memories:

My brother RACES over to our dad's house after calling and getting no answer. Dad had previously passed out several times so he is thinking the worst. Walks into the house and dad is sitting there big as life and says "What are you doing here?" My brother says, "Well I called and there was no answer so I got worried."

Dad goes, "I TOLD YOU I don't answer the phone when the Uconn girls are on!!"

my dad was a lot like that, too. He fully appreciated what Geno is doing up at UConn and he LOVED watching the girls play....

:)

I remember many years ago we would be watching a baseball game on TV with my grandfather and he would go "geez, they hit another home run". No grandpa, that was a replay. Then he would grumble something under his breath. :)

I'll probably be like that in a few years.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now I cannot hear a thing you say
Oh, to remember yesterday.

Suddenly, I can't play the games upon the Wii,
Cataracs are slowly blinding me.
Oh, yesterday brought doctors fees.

Pills now help me go, the flow comes suddenly.
I took something wrong, now I long to take a pee.

Yesterday, life was such an easy game to play.
Now I with my walker make my way.
Oh, I so yearn for yesterday.
