I'm thinking it’s time for the Boneyard’s (sort of) annual Lurker Day. For those unfamiliar with the term “lurker” as it pertains to people on the Internet, it simply means someone who tends to read more often than they post.
In the past we’d set aside some time, usually a four hour block in the morning, where only posters with fewer than 75 posts were allowed to post on the Boneyard. This allowed folks to introduce themselves and get their feet wet, so to speak, without fear of being talked over or, ahem, “corrected” by a know-it-all. I’m going to consult with Biff and JS to see when we can be around to remind more prolific posters to hold off posting for a while.
I hear from people at games who tell me they don’t post because they aren’t as knowledgeable as other posters or they’re afraid of having their opinions ridiculed. Hopefully, we can show them it’s not as bad as all that. As for the know-it-all’s? In the words of that great philosopher, The Scarecrow:
