The camera didn’t quite get this Duke fan in frame after the Mullins bomb. If they had just panned a little wider, she could have been a meme like Villanova flute girl.

Yes, I watched the game replay on YouTube today. Much like all the classic movies - you see things you missed the first time.

A++++ investigative work.

I can still hear the arena music/noise playing after that shot like it was yesterday. Ive enjoyed watching Uconn in person cutting down the nets at the finals. But nothing will ever come close to that Mullins Miracle.
It was Amazing. And totally Awesome, particularly since we did it to Duke. Again. Definitely a top all-time UConn highlight.

But anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who is a fan going back far enough to know where we came from in 60's, 70's and then 80's through the 90's to 1999 knows this is a ridiculous comment filled with recency bias.

Because if you went through the growth of this program from regional team to Big East doormat through The Dream Season and then through the pain and anguish of knocking on the door of the Final 4 from The Dream Season through the next decade 4 or 5 times to that angst-filled game versus an upstart but also really good Gonzaga team that had the crowd decidedly on their side in the Elite 8 in 1999 to get to the Final 4, and then beat what was considered an "all-time" Duke team to win one of the best Championship games ever played to finally, and amazingly get to the pinnacle of the college basketball world in 1999?..... there is no way you could ever put a last second miracle win to get us to the Final 4 over our first actual championship. No way.

This shows me you have no idea what all of that was like. Because you all see 6 championships now, but you don't realize how it wasn't until The Dream Season that any UConn fan would dare to dream of having a realistic shot at a Final 4, let alone winning a championship. Jim Calhoun is considered to be on the Mount Rushmore of all college coaches for a reason. It was only through his vision, his hard-nosed, top level coaching and his iron will that we have gotten anywhere close to where we are now. That 1999 National Championship game will always stand alone as the single most important game in our men's basketball history, and no shot, not even a game winner in future national championship game will equal it. I was there that night. There is no feeling that can ever top the feeling of complete euphoria when that buzzer went off and we realized that we had, indeed, "Shocked the World".

Going to be weird looking back in future years and seeing Khamenia on the wrong side of this
We hate Duke. I get it but these kids play as hard as they can to win. Duke was devastated with that loss and our players were devastated with the Michigan one. I’m sure he doesn’t regret playing for them or being on the “wrong side”.

Grilling a guy for his opinion is odd. He didn’t say it was the most important, he was expressing his personal emotions.

Plus - let’s face it - the dudes who won that 1999 title have grey hair now. You’d have to basically be at least 50 years old to fully appreciate the 90s UConn experience.

You could be 45 … and have been 9 years old and remember the Dream Season and the heartbreak at the end - and enjoyed the redemption in 1999 as a high school senior. But you wouldn’t have a concept of why 1990 was such a dream season. It just would have been maybe one of your first sports memories.

Looks like the killer in Scream.

But the shot of Carlos Boozer's reaction is seemingly non-existent. Still can't believe that.

That tv camera swung over to the Hurleys after the turnover. So they sacrificed the Boozers to get Mrs. Hurley saying “holy fork and shirt, we won. Holy shirt.”

In hindsight, they needed two cameras. But with only one, I think they made the right choice. That reaction will leave more of an impression than whatever Carlos did.

I think besides the personal awe and wonder experienced, a beauty of being a UConn fan pre-Calhoun is we can explain to the next generation just how special and out of the ashes this dominance is. My kids are all UConn fans despite going to different schools b/c they know and appreciate the history even if they didn’t live it. It makes the successes more remarkable and instills pride knowing where we came from much like a family that emigrated and grew over generations. The players embody this history too and all stand on the shoulders of their predecessors in the stands (at lots of final fours!!).
