You are making assumptions. May be true, may not.

OTOH, why would Groce go follow someone else's success when he can create his own legend at Illinois?

This is the thread that was certain that Snider would pick UCLA. He didn't.

I think you can argue about the amount of "success" Rick Barnes has had at Texas. Not giant shoes to fill there.

It's a show me world. If the AAC does well it will draw recruits. It has to prove itself. There is a nucleus of four, maybe five, schools that should do damage in the NCAA's. That should change the perception.

Think it's harder to sell recruits about games against ECU and others than previously. Difference is were now an established power, but like others have said, other programs are going to negative recruit the out of our conference situation which is wise for them.

The sell will have to be different for sure. The SEC and the PAC are not strong top to bottom. In the SEC's case they are primarily a two school conference. And until the latest change the same could have been said about the ACC. But the top schools in those conferences still got recruits.

Will coaches use the AAC against UConn! Absolutely. When UConn was in the BE coaches would bad mouth JC regarding how he handles players. Coaches that use negative recruiting will find the issue(s) to utilize against their opposition. And some players will not have the ability to resist this type of recruiting.

That is why I like KO for this job. He is a positive force who will make a mark and as time goes on the negative stuff will have less and less impact.
