They come in at #99 in Paul Myerberg's pre-season countdown.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...lege-football-countdown-2013-preview/2387967/

I was somewhat surprised at how low they came in but then read the following sentence:

"SMU is going to struggle in a few areas: in limiting giveaways, in the running game, on the offensive line, on the defensive line, with the pass rush and in stopping the run."

Which now puts things into perspective. I sure hope we have rediscovered our power running game by the time we make this road trip because it sure sounds like it would come in handy.

Anyone coming to TX for this game? A few of us alums and long-time Husky football fans are down here, and we'll be going for sure. At the last game in Waco vs Baylor, (Cody, Jazz, Todman, Dixon, Bama, Desi, and RG III) we were about 300 strong at the 10 yard line and prevailed against 40,000+ screaming Baylor fans. Good times. Anyway, lot's of stuff to do around here and the weather is usually great in mid November. If you're thinking about making the trip, flights from LGA to DFW are <4 hrs and you can pick up tix for under $400. Oh yeah, and Ford Field is right on campus and the surrounding area has many before and after game attractions.

I recently moved to Dallas. Any bars or meetup spots you guys go to to watch the games?

Tickets are under $400? Man, do I hope you meant 40! I am actually in the early stages of planning this trip. I may PM you as we get closer if you don't mind answering some questions.

Edit: You were clearly talking about flight tickets.

I am working the road trip right now... I am coming down early to play a bit of golf, and I am also planning to see 5-7 former Huskies play the next day in Houston... Raiders-Texans...

I know a few from the tailgate are interested as well. I'll watch for you on the board and post as plans come together.

I hear the SMU tailgating experience is quite unique. They call it 'boulevarding' I believe.

A couple more facts for your consideration. Dallas-Love Field is closer to the SMU campus than DFW (2 vs 20 miles). It's also Southwest Airline's main hub which may give some people better flight options. The Cowboys have a bye week that weekend. Anyone interested might want to take the 1.5 hr guided walking tour of Cowboy Stadium. It's about 20 miles from the SMU campus. I did it last year and it was pretty cool. It includes visits to the players' and cheerleaders' locker rooms, Jerry Jones' private suite and his special elevator to the field, and it ends with your own play time on the field itself. Ranger Ballpark is less than a mile away from there, too.
