Well, since everyone is starting a thread, I have to throw in my 2 cents. This wasn't one those bend don't break defensive efforts saw in the past. This was one of those we are going to shut your running game down, we are going to punch you in the mouth and beat you in to submission.

Wow what an effort! Kudos to Diaco and of course the defense!

A statement game.

Diaco trusted his CB's to go man to man all game and stuffed the box. UConn's DLine was what won the game. Stuffed the run, put pressure on the QB's with only 4-5 rushers and imposed their will on Houston for 60 minutes.

2) huge offensive line
3) quality RB's
4) mistake-free QB's
5) dependable kicking

Add an extra dimension with Shirreffs running the ball occasionally and we've got something going on.

Plus there were a lot of great open field tackles and players wrapped up everyone they got a hand on. Very few if any missed tackles from what I can recall.

Just a hell of an effort to basically take the entire team on their shoulders and win the game.
