Hate to see this when the kid could have stayed in school and been a big part of Diaco's first year. Hopefully he catches on w/ another team or the practice squad.

It does not look as if he has been signed to a practice squad yet.

Former Doherty High and UConn star Yawin Smallwood was not among the first eight practice squad signings by Atlanta last night. Smallwood was among the Falcons' final roster cuts.

When Yawin and Sio played together I always thought of Yawin as the more versatile of the two. He was physically bigger and seemed to have all of the same tools. Sio had a little more motor/tenacity. Very disappointing for Yawin, hope he sticks with it and gets on a roster somewhere.

I was lambasted for saying he was not NFL ready. He had some real deficiencies that could have been improved upon. I wish he stayed and matured a year.

Generally, going to the practice squad means your chances are very slim of making it, save an alignment of the stars from injuries, etc. One of my high school friends was a fullback on the practice squad with KC and it was miserable tenuous existence. Lets hope stars align for him.
