When travelling for work and such I would always try and catch a localish college football game. Always enjoyed the experience at the smaller venues. Some of the schools I visited;
Coast Guard
The Old Dartmouth stadium
Cornell
Princeton
App State
William and Mary
Utah State
Montana
Lafayette PA
Lehigh
JMU
New Mexico and State
Humboldt State CA
Other than the academies are any smaller venues others have enjoyed attending? I have not visited the MAC

Western Connecticut State is a great environment. Great sized crowds for D3 and a beautiful setting. Good team too. Too bad their league said no football this Fall. It's a New England league and New England is in the best Covid-19 position of any region.

Always enjoyed Memorial Stadium in Storrs, CT. Great sight lines, close to the action and no sun in your eyes at the end of a Fall Saturday....
And the kegs in the stands didn't hurt it either.

Princeton Stadium seats 27,000. It's not Jerry World, but 27,000 isn't small.
Potato po-tat-to.

It is what 8,000 fans smaller that Nippert and 13,000 smaller than the Rent? That's small. It's not high school stadium small like Cooper Field though.

on the hill above the south end zone - every game. In the stands? never saw that at Memorial, at soccer games - yes.
Used to have ours right at the 50 yard line.

Old Dominion's new stadium looks nice. South Alabama's new stadium debuted over the weekend and looked good too.

Nippert is on my list to visit. Appears to be an interesting place. I would put Princeton Cornell JMU near the top of what I meant by smaller venues as opposed to the large P5 types and below places like The Rent Marshall Duke BC Cinci...in size. I remember Calhoun use to patrol the top of Memorial. He would always get pissed when we gave up a score on any following drive of a UConn score.

South Alabama alum here. So happy to be away from Ladd-Peebles Stadium (site of Senior Bowl), which was about 25 minutes from campus (sound familiar). Ladd was run down when I was there 40 years ago. The best thing we did was to finance the $72 million stadium ourselves without any help from the city. Can't wait until I can actually see a game there in person.

Just saw images of the new stadium, nice! 25k seats and close to the field. Congrats.

I went to the Ouachita Baptist University-Henderson State University game last year in Arkansas. These D-2 schools are located in the same town. The campuses border each other. The rivalry game was featured in Sports Illustrated last November with a long article (8 pages)? Great atmosphere. About 10,000 people there if I remember correctly.

Marist, on the Hudson, is a nice setting

I think nova did a nice job with theirs

I always enjoyed game day at Delaware but I’m not sure it’s small.

Army Football at Michie Stadium is an awesome experience. I don't know if I'd consider it small though. It's Army after all and 38k.
Yeah fair, it's not big time P5 big. It's more small time P5 small. More like Duke than Ohio State.
