Chip Brown the Bevo mouthpiece reports that TU and ACC look doubtful as the ACC wants to remain an eastern conference. If so, two slots remain in the ACC. Let's hope Herbst doesn't screw up again.

"That Big 12 administrator said the ACC is reluctant to bring in Texas for three reasons: 1) how the Longhorn Network would be worked into its revenue sharing; 2) that the ACC sees itself as an east coast conference and wants to protect that by not reaching into the southwest (no matter how much TV money adding Texas would mean); and 3) Texas indicated to the ACC it would need to bring Texas Tech with them to the ACC, and the ACC members were not excited about that because of Texas Tech's academic standing (No. 160 in latest U.S. News and World Report)."

WVU needs to go to the SEC so that the three of us (WVU, Rutty, Us) make it to the ACC. I'd also settle for a UConn/WVU ACC combo, of course.

If that is the case, Rutgers and UCONN look like slam dunks. BC is probably trying really hard to block us.

According to WVU sources, the ACC is going to expand to 16 and the teams being considered are : Texas, WVU, Rutgers, and UConn.

I hope Herbst wasn't out too late at her inauguration party! Hopefully she is busy working the phone and her connections.

"Our sources..."

Pretending this is real, Texas may be out, and the Big12 has inside info that WV is going SEC. So UConn & Rutgers leave Louisville, Cincy and USF behind?

Mizzou, Kansas, KSU, ISU, Baylor and TCU are what's left at that point. Invite Houston and you have 10.

Notre Dame though needs the Big10, and then the Big10 may come calling (Maryland?) if ND joins.

Worst case scenario, which may be coming to fruition as we speak:

Texas and Oklahoma decide to stay together and revive the Big 12. If the Big 12 is staying together, then the SEC adds aTm and WVU (instead of Mizzou). The Big 12 then gets back to 12 teams by adding TCU, Louisville, and Cincinnati. That would leave UConn, Rutgers, and USF completely screwed! No football conference and no BCS bid. The Louisville AD has already basically said it is every man for himself at this point. That is the only scenario that leaves UConn completely out of the picture...better not happen!

OK. I feel a little better now. Everyone can put away their Cure and Smiths records for the time being.;)
