Skip Bayless - Tool

There's so many weird things about Skip Bayless but none of what he said here is weird at all, it's actually pretty spot on.

You want weird...Skip orders enough chicken, broccoli, and brown rice from a Chinese restaurant at the beginning of the week and eats that for every meal every day for the week every week. He's been doing this for around 15 years straight. It's especially weird considering his brother is one of the most renowned Mexican food chefs.

He also says he hasn't missed a weightlifting or cardio workout since the early 80's.
It appears that the better part of the Bayless gene pool drifted towards Rick.

Was listening to the Bill Simmons pod this morning and he thinks the whole ordeal was orchestrated on both sides lol. The college bball writers are in their own world/bubble but I don't think the national media is buying this whole thing.

But Skip is best friends with you know who. Shouldn't that count for something.

Skip is on TV now telling everyone that this whole Lakers Offer Fiasco is actually a plot by Dan Hurley to
leverage his contract negotiations with the University. Who knew? Does Skippy understand that Dan
would not even get on a plane to Kentucky earlier during their ask? The conspiracy thing is a figment
of his pea brain. Dan has more integrity in his pinky than Skippy ever had. He did his due diligence
and made the trip out west and was low-balled pure and simple. He is now being classy in his
response to the Lakers and Skippy is trying his best to cast him as a greedy villain. What a Tool!
Helpful disclaimer for Bayless, Cowherd, Stephen A, et al. When they are successful in getting you worked up, you watch/click, the cash register goes ka-ching, and their existence is validated in the eyes of their employers. They all need to disappear and stop decreasing everyone’s collective IQ.

I don’t disagree. I said in another place I think this was a deal neither side really wanted. Hurley was intrigued but for many reasons wasn’t looking to go. The Lakers wanted a splash but really want someone else, probably Reddick though he doesn’t inspire their fans. Neither side would have been happy if Hurley said yes, but once the ball started rolling it could have been a done deal. Sometimes these things take on a life of their own. Part of LA’s side to try and keep it under control was perfectly rational. For the reasons I outlined, Hurley was a pretty big risk. So they offered fair but not over the top compensation. And $12 million is more than $5 million. So they had a shot. Their risks if Hurley accepted were at least somewhat high. Few college cosches are successful. He had no NBA experience, Hurley might take time to adjust, which LA doesn’t have, He might flame out entirely. And so on. They made a rational offer. He made a rational decision not to take it. As I saw somewhere, the outcome was what both sides really wanted and both are better off as a result.
I’m just not cynical enough to believe someone can make an offer especially for that many years and that much money with neither the desire nor intention that it will be accepted. And I don’t think people can waste time and resources like that.
But it is possible that there never was an offer and the fly him out + Woj bombs were a dog and pony show benefitting Hurleys future contract $ and giving the Lakers news coverage + leverage with JJ Reddick or others.

Skip's time was officially up when Shannon bailed on him. He's in the "will drop pants for food" stage of his career.
He's 72 years old and he was paid $8 million this year. He doesn't have to drop his pants for his chicken and broccoli.

It's was a metaphor for his being washed up and desperate for attention with a Krusty the Klown reference. Not an actual comment on his salary.

I used to see that bozo jogging around my neighborhood all the time. I give him lots of credit for maintaining his fitness regimen but I can also remember him telling professional athletes that he'd dust them in a race and I can tell you that unless he was talking about bowlers that is 100% untrue. The guy looked like the bionic man with all the braces holding his body together.

Just as I suspected...Dan is on a podcast (LeBatard Show) now and says he was not...not...doing this for contract leverage........

I heard an interview recently with him detailing his eating and fitness regimen. He says he's never missed a weightlifting session since 1982 and says his all-time pr for bench press is 180 lbs. I love his honesty but I probably would've given up in 1983 if that's all I could lift.

Even a novice would kind of have to make a conscious effort not to break through that number after the first couple months. Skip definitely wears gloves and a belt for every exercise.

He's absolutely the gloves and belt guy. He said his body is not designed to bench press, he's 5'11 with long arms. He tried and tried and had serious bench pressers teach him and finally they all realized his body wasn't designed for the lift. Lolz
