All day, all I've heard is how the ACC needs a 'football school' and that UConn just won't cut it and that Louisville should/will be the pick. Just for kicks, this is how we stack up with Louisville since we both were members in the Big East.

2005: LV 5-2 UConn 2-5
2006: LV 6-1 UConn 1-6
2007: UConn 5-2 LV 3-4
2008: UConn 3-4 LV 1-6
2009: UConn 3-4 LV 1-6
2010: UConn 5-2 LV 3-4
2011: LV 5-2 UConn 3-4
2012: LV 4-1 UConn 1-4

Totals: LV 28-26 UConn 23-31
Big East Championships: LV 2 UConn 2
Head to Head: LV 4 UConn 3

Louisville has a slight edge, but the way the public (aka message board psychos) talk about it you would think Louisville has been playing at a Boise State level the past decade.

I guess I'm not shocked the public would be so influenced by the current season, but overall it's pretty even.

On a side note: duck P and GDL and what they've done to our program and possibly killing our chances at a new home.

For the 100th time. This season, and the past 10 seasons doesn't have anything to do with it. If it did, Cuse, Pitt, and RU wouldn't have been invited anywhere.

Since UConn joined, Cuse has spent the entire tenure in the basement of the Big East. UConn has an all time winning record against Pitt. And RU is RU. An empty trophy case with a lot of recruiting championships.

Oh pardon me, I'll edit where I said that the past decade of football is the end all be all of conference expansion.

It doesn't matter when you have a long history like Cuse, Pitt or a big market like Rutgers, but as something that could be used as a tie-breaker? I most definitely think it's in the discussion.

For instance, how do you think West Virginia, Utah and TCU got into the Power 5?

Football drives the bus. It's all about markets. No wait, "brand" is important. Don't forget academics!

I don't think anyone, including the conference commishes, know what the hell they are doing.

Yeah, Rutgers and MD lock up NYC to the DC beltway.

IN THEORY

Utah expanded the Pac 12's market.

The Big 12 was down to 8 with the departure of Colorado, Tex A&M, Nebraska, and Mizzou right? The Big 12 had to act. TCU was a natural geographic fit with a growing fanbase and a recently expanded stadium. WVU was a geographical/academic/cultural fit with a strong football history.

TCU and WVU made more sense than anyone else for a conference that was forced to expand. The reason they added TCU and WVU is the same as why the Big East added USF, Ville and Cincy. They had to, and those were the best available that made the most sense.

Don't misunderstand the tone of my post, I agree with the premise of yours, just not the importance. Sorry if it came off harsh.

Same here, admittedly we're all on edge here.

My point was more so how is Louisville's football 'rep' seemingly so much better than ours.

I don't get that either. They have a capacity of 15,000+/- more than us. But you can get tickets on StubHub for our game for $5-$10.

They have had more success when at the top of the conference, we were not as impressive in winning the conference. But they aren't WVU either.

I've been wondering the same exact thing, it's a joke that people are saying Louisville is a football school.

I took a quick cruise around some message boards like Syracuse, Carolina, Pitt and West Virginia and the disdain and resentment they have towards UConn Football is remarkable. It almost matches what's seen here on the Boneyard after a loss.

In all seriousness though, seeing people trash our program while simultaneously praise Louisville's program was a bit shocking. Of course the P hire has been a disaster for us and the Strong hire was a grand slam for Ville, but go back two seasons ago and the roles are reversed.

Who knows what happens, but it seems like 90% of fans out there think Louisville is the move.

Hopefully for us, the people running the ACC think differently.

Seriously. Perusing other national sports sites reporting this story, you'd think that Louisville is in the same class as Alabama or LSU. If we were having this discussion two years ago, it would be a VERY different discussion.

Honestly, who gives a rats @$$ what they think. If we get in we'll show them we're just as good as any of their mid-level talented football teams. Heck we already beat one this year!

It's just because they're lucky enough to be 9-1 this year when other conferences are looking at them. Had all this gone down last year, uconn would be the only school even mentioned.

My sleeper pick is Cincinnati coming out of nowhere and getting the invite. Competent football and basketball, and their market is bigger than Louisville's and only slightly smaller than UConn's.

yup agree and they have a nfl stadium in town and recruiting pipeline to ohio...they will not be left out in the end but will be picked over a lot. b12 will get them down the road imho.
